He may have been fired In Baton Rouge. Mick Fleetwood said they were playing in some college town (during the "Bare Trees" tour) when Kirwan and Bob Welch got into a spat that resulted in the former completely losing control, destroying his prized Black Beauty Les Paul, and refusing to go on stage. He instead sat at the mixing table leaving lead guitar and vocal duties to Welch then giving the band a hard time about the bad performance.
