My opinion is absolutely subjective, and you’re free to disagree with it. With that said, accusing me of “hating the flag” for saying that a flagpole that towers above a natural landscape looks like it will be an eyesore is staggeringly asinine.

I would dislike it every bit as much if it were a pride flag. In fact, I would dislike it every bit as much if it were just a giant pole with no flag on it at all. The flag that flies at the top is easily the least offensive part of that monstrosity, in my opinion.
Also, go frick yourself, bitch

Anyone know *exactly* where this is proposed to go? Like nearest town or lat-lon?

The centerpiece of the park in Columbia Falls, Maine, will be a soaring flagpole that equals the height of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the nation.

OK thanks. I was wondering if this might be an attempt to sneak in a tall TV tower to near Portland or remote-Boston (follow the money).
But nope. Best of luck to them.

Nice; that will be the first thing those freeloading Nova Scotians see when they come over on their rafts.

Haha nah, I Googled the town before I started my rant. I then made it to the bottom of the article, saw the rendering, and added it to my first post.
And after a brief Google search (technically about the Empire State Building, but same height), you would apparently be able to see it from about 80 miles away

My apologies amigo. Obviously I misunderstood. I initially thought that you were referencing the massive flag proposed to fly on it.
My mistake - carry on.

They should put four shorter structures - two on each side - so it looks like a giant Bird Finger. Then the park should play the theme song from Team America on loop.

All good
To be fair, growing up in Lafayette, giant American flags only make me think of car dealerships, so I’m not exactly their biggest fan, but I don’t particularly care if people want to fly them.
But building a flag pole a quarter mile high (and because of tensile physics, girthy as frick) in the middle of some beautiful, pristine country? Get the frick out of here

For the left Ellis Island is the beginning of America.

Sounds like a giant eyesore, but as long as it's privately funded, have at it.
Welcome to America in 2022. The place where people think that our flag is an eye sore.

The thread is only three pages long. Couldn’t make it that far before jumping to the end to say stupid shite?

Just going off Wikipedia.
And cool, so this would still be four times taller than that. Was that extra couple hundred feet supposed to move the needle on a 1,776 foot construction?

Man, this whole “lob random insults at strangers” thing sure is a lot of fun. Don’t know why I didn’t try it sooner…
