Also...Lee was never a general in the U.S. Army. He resigned his commission as a Colonel.

Pretty sure a lot of guys could have done that.
Hackworth was a reporter at the time, and his speculation on what would happen had Schwartzkopf's people saying he was getting inside information.
Hackworth said, Hey, I went to the same schools he did.

Probably because Collins commanded a corps while Patton commanded an army. That's 57,000 men vs. 250,000 men. Collins commanded the VII Corps in Courtney Hodge's U.S. First Army.
