Mayor LaToya Cantrell will announce on Friday a crowd-control plan for the 2021 Carnival season, she said Thursday, an effort aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus in a city that took heat last year for holding a mass celebration.

"I am really concerned about Mardi Gras and the potential for superspreaders," Cantrell said.

The news comes days after a video of maskless crowds on Bourbon Street began circulating on social media, prompting a scolding from Cantrell's administration, which has banned large maskless gatherings.

My sauces placed her at the Polo Lounge last night. He couldn't get past the closed doors.

I'm sure Claiborne will be shut down.

The neutral grounds along St. Charles are fair game. Just watch out for street cars.

Don't forget to come into town, but act like New Orleanians!!!!!!

Lol this is just not true.

it Trump tried to shut down/cancel Mardi Gras last year (when at the time it was all still new and unknown), Latoya, the media and the city would’ve gone fricking ape shite and called him a dictator

Removing Trump, if Fauci had recommended it he would’ve been skewered and laughed out of the room.

The timing of Mardi Gras was unfortunate, but no one blamed New Orleans for having it

I haven't been to the quarter since early in the summer, but I will be walking around drinking next Friday afternoon.

Maybe I will come see you at Lafitte's.

Real shame that we won't get to see a giant float roll that's made up to look like Toyazilla

Well they should just cancel all events.... IMO Madi Gras is already overated to begin with.... don’t get me wrong here... I love to party as much as everyone else but........ this country has not gotten even close to stopping this virus and just having any type of crowd gathering is not helping......
