We use faxes quite a bit. If you have to send a document you would have to scan it in and email anyway. Faxing saves a step.

Fax machines are HIPAA compliant, so they aren't going away in the medical field anytime soon.

And Beepers won't be going away in the medical field either.

I always thought that it was amazing how well they worked on noisy, old phone lines.

Another thought: in 2019, how do people not understand how an abacus works.

This question always makes me laugh. It's said with arrogance, yet shows much ignorance

I had someone make me video tape me shredding their information after a fax they sent to me...which they didn't mean to. Annoyed me all day till I literally facetimed them and shredded the documents. It was an inventory and some random shite I had already thrown away that meant nothing to me. Was laughing and angry at the same time

once again, only because they have to send stuff to an out of date government office

Fax machines are used because they are a secure means of transmitting PII (Personally Identifiable Information). Transmitting it via email or email scan that information can be compromised if a server is hacked.

I've had a weird person or two demand the return of electronically stored documents before. Some people just aren't very bright.

Are you people serious?
We fax medical records and prescriptions all day long.
You realize how long it would take to scan that shite and then email said shite?

I guess I'm spoiled. Our business machines scan and email without ever touching a computer. It functions like a fax machine, but it's not a fax machine. You press one button and 2 seconds later your document is sent.

This. Good god this.

When I worked in construction we started to try to shift bid submissions from subs to email and away from fax. Most bids were due at 2pm and every time the fax machine would spit out faxed in bids from subs until about 2:15 as all these people would try to send their bids to us at the last possible minute. The excuses I’d get from people as to why they “didn’t trust email” ranged from absurd to just plain stupid.
