The Neocon dream.
is it?im anything but a neocon...you should know this, we have only discussed it on here for 15+ years
but i happen to take putin at his word in that the old russia empire land, he beleives is rightfully Russias....many of those countries are NATO
i would rather supply ukraine with weapons(most of which we were phasing out anyways or are from storage) and spill their blood to stop the advance then sit around and do nothing until russia attacks nato
do i think trump would have stopped this....prolly but he swung a big stick and people were scared of him, same with reagen....but in general russia does what the frick it wants when it feels like the US is weak or has someone weak in the WH.
ill be honest...i would have agreed with Putins assessment that biden was weak and wouldnt do anything...I was wrong and so was putin.
bottomline is though, we have spent less than 10% of our annual defense budget and have destroyed almost 60% of Russias conventional military capability
we have stopped the advance, gotten most(frick you germany and hungry) of the Nato members to start upping defense spending
we have destroyed Russians economy
we have expanded nato
we have stopped russian arm deals because countries see they are dog shite machines which will lead to buying from us.
now fi you wanna talk abotu ukraine being a complete and utter corrupt shithole....i agree. russia just happens to be just as bad. both are shitholes
this isnt about ukraine imo, this about stopping the russians from feeling like they can do whatever they want
the tactic many of you want to try is the same one used by chamberlin and others with hitler....it didnt work then and it wont work now.
go watch Russian TV and tell me you think they would just stop

Every year, the United States sends billions of dollars in aid—and much more than any other country—to beneficiaries around the world in pursuit of its security, economic, and humanitarian interests.
Heading into 2022, U.S. foreign assistance was driven by various priorities of the Biden administration, including combating climate change, responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, and countering authoritarianism. But since Russia’s invasion in February, Ukraine has become far and away the top recipient of U.S. foreign aid. It’s the first time that a European country has held the top spot since the Harry S. Truman administration directed vast sums into rebuilding the continent through the Marshall Plan after World War II.
In 2022, the Biden administration and the U.S. Congress have directed nearly $50 billion in assistance to Ukraine, which includes humanitarian, financial, and military support, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German research institute. The historic sums are helping a broad set of Ukrainian people and institutions, including refugees, law enforcement, and independent radio broadcasters, though most of the aid has been military-related. Dozens of other countries, including most members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the European Union, are also providing large aid packages to Ukraine.

doesnt account for the money that will be made from arm sales now and in the future for showing that Russian arms are dog shite

Notice that the EU has provided much more financial assistance than the US.
Based on GDP we are ranked 9th in aid to Ukraine

Why is it that American politicians with the biggest track record of supporting the violation of other nation's sovereignty when it comes to our wars all of a sudden give a damn about it when another country does the exact same thing?

I spent about a month in the Kenai area 25 years ago. People I met there were not liberal at all but were often fairly libertarian in their views. Freedom-loving individualist basically. You do you and I'll do me sort of attitude.
