"Insane" "bad financial decision" just like you passing on child tax credit for 16 years and counting! You even state you haven't researched what income is subject to SS withholding. Whether or not he gets a SS# doesn't matter for whether he pays or not just the type of income.

I still don't understand the point this boss thinks he's making by not getting this done. He himself has a SSN. He is foregoing real money each year. He is creating a roadblock to his kid getting his drivers license (and at the same time saying "why? why does he need to sign up for this SSN? give me one good reason!" Well, asshat, one good reason is so your kid can get his drivers license.

Seems pretty simple to me. Some people literally are just addicted to making simple things hard.

People that make everything harder because they need to stick it to the man are hilarious.

Not like you don't need a SS for almost everything you do as an adult when it comes to education, finances, jobs and background checks.

dudes acting like he's letting his son decide to get circumcised at age 18

Exactly!

There are real injustices in the world. Focus this righteous indignation on solving a problem that someone actually suffers because of.

Additionally.....what is the harm that you are suing to remedy?

Being told "no". That's his harm.

He went to get his son his learners permit or drivers license and they told him no, because he didn't have an SSN. He get pissy and instead of getting the SSN like a normal person, he chooses this to be the hill he dies on, so to speak.

I do actually. Read the link in the first post about the motorcycle. I’ve saved the people of East Feliciana probably 100k in useless fees because of some arbitrary admin requirement. I help people all the time. Last week I sent an 800 dollar car part across the country to help someone in need I don’t even know get their car going again.

Since you have an opinion on how to “solve problems”, post your story about how you spent your time and resources to help someone that you didn’t have to, just because it was the right thing to do.

I see things through to the end. It’s fine that folks here don’t understand this, shocking… but fine.

The DMV is basically saying “look, we are going to break the law and require you to do something that you don’t legally have to do to enjoy a privilege that everyone else that capitulates gets”. Folks like you are standing on the sideline going “yeah, he’s stupid for not going along”, instead of even asking the question of how they are able to do this and why.

You guys cowarded in the face of the bully, didn’t you?

Why am I doing this? They are breaking the very same law they would fine and penalize you endlessly for breaking. Do they get to do it just because they are bigger? I don’t think so. If they want to make people comply, they should change the law.

On Friday night I helped an older couple find their car after a high school football game when they were clearly lost.

I regularly give my time to the BR Food Bank, helping ensure that people have food to eat.

I give my professional services for free to multiple non-profits, schools and church organizations that serve the local area and people across the country.

Your “crusade” is self-serving and is being done mainly to benefit yourself. Stop acting like it’s some grand magnanimous gesture to anyone other than you.

You haven’t demonstrated yet that they’ve broken the law, but even if they are, this isn’t the reason people are calling your efforts stupid. Let’s say you are 100% in the right here. What exactly are you gaining? You have pissed away literally thousands of dollars over the years, you are wasting my tax dollars by bringing this to a courtroom, and your inaction is preventing your son from doing something that I’m sure he wants to do.

So you are seeking to prove a point for nobody’s benefit but your own. This is not being done to right a grave wrong, or correct a systemic injustice. It’s selfish.

What are you talking about? Yes, I filled out a form while in the hospital with my three kids because it didn’t occur to me that I should have foolishly not done it and cost myself the time, energy, and money you are so clearly willing to spend. There’s no bully in this situation - you made a choice, choices have consequences, some of them are bad, you are now encountering the consequences, so you are suing. Talk about a childish and immature response to a “bully” of your own creation.

At the end of the day .......it all boils down to this.

Instead of just paying for a learner's permit ......He gets to pay an attorney and the Department of Motor Vehicles ............win or not....

Money to burn.

You could start by donating and volunteering for your state’s Libertarian Party or perhaps the Constitution Party. Find a good civil liberties group to join. I really like the NCLA.

Then proceeded to get your dick kicked in.

10000000 agree. Had an appointment I made weeks in advance. Got there doors were locked with a sign saying temporarily closed. No explanation nada. They were closed for about 2 weeks.

Then you can only do certain services in certain towns.

Don’t get me started on trying to actually talk to a living person on the phone.

As do I.

Yes. I expect this will be resolved in a reasonable time frame.
