Here are some links to local and regional chains that have a decent online presence. They are Main Street in their region. They support their local communities, pride themselves on excellent customer service, and are price competitive with Amazon.

ebay is, and always has been, 1000x better then amazon for buyer protection, no hassle returns and guaranteed refunds.

they also have china junk but it clearly shows who and where you are buying from to avoid issues. yes they have china junk too, but so does walmart and every other store.

most people just talked themselves into believing amazon was better because you paid $25 a month for your special prime member status memberships

I've been saying this for years now but I swear some of their products that are name brand products are knockoffs sold under a brand name.

Of course I could be wrong, but years back I bought a pack of old spice deodorant (the gel kind) and everyone in the pack was pretty much water.

The first time I ordered a pack it was fine so I just bought another pack and when I got it it was the same thing. Then there was something else I bought from them and the quality was just awful. Name brand, but it was like a knock off version in the brand packaging.

This is a very big problem with buying name brand products on Amazon.

They comingle inventory from 3rd party sellers with their own. So a 3rd party seller can ship fake shite into Amazon to be mixed into the inventory and when you order you can get that fake crap even if it it shipped/sold by Amazon. I wonder what percentage of Ray Bans etc. that they sell are fake?

If they are going to comingle inventory they need to inspect the merchandise better but I suppose that would cost too much.

I've picked USA sellers/shippers on eBay and got the item drop shipped from China anyway so many times. You clearly don't know what you're talking about

Yeah this is a big problem on Amazon. There are a lot of fraudulent listings too.

Try buying an SD card off of Amazon for example. A tremendous amount of them are fakes, some are even listed as far larger capacity than any of the real brands actually manufacture, and for a fraction of the price, and it's really a tiny memory card reprogrammed to report the wrong capacity. When you try to actually save to it, all the files just end up corrupted.

It's been like that for years and Amazon does nothing about it.

You can't trust the ratings. You have to click the tab from highest reviews to most recent reviews then scan through about the first 20 or so. This has worked well for me.

Learn how to sort reviews correctly and actually read what they are saying. You should almost never be buying sponsored products either

Too often you still have to sort through dozens and dozens of sponsored reviews and bots for every truthful review.

The negative reviews are often people bitching about things completely unrelated to the product or it’s quality.

Yes, there are ways to prevent buying crap or getting scammed, but it’s getting harder and more time consuming.

You think something doesn't happen to anyone just because it hasn't yet happened to you?

Who's the real troll/idiot here? You're using the same logic as OweO is using in the groomer thread.

90% of the stuff you get on Amazon is absolute junk

My experience in ordering some replacement parts for random things has steered me away from Amazon and toward the manufacturer.

Gladly pay more for a reliable product. Amazon doesn’t always offer that.

I use Fakespot: LINK

Also, as a rule, never read 5* or 1* reviews. I find the most informative are the 2*-4* reviews.
