Lol it’s a good, catchy song that loudly exclaims the city of Baton Rouge in the lyrics. If you can’t figure out while it’s played there is no helping you. Also the complaints about the song simply boil down to people those people not liking country music. The problem is 90% or more of the people in the stands do

I love GS - I listen to his music all the time - it's aged a lot better on me than GB - who I really never listen to these days. Although at one time it was the exact opposite. Garth is the better entertainer, George has better songs - IMHO - regardless of who wrote them.

He's definitely not playing when running around the stage singing

He actually is, I heard lastnight many times when he would start to play and was off beat by a little bit for a second or so.

Also someone posted in a thread about him lip syncing. If he's lip syncing it's a damn good recording because you can even hear him out of breathe and his pauses to take a breathe.

Calling Baton Rouge seems to be about a truck driver missing an underage hooker. It’s definitely not about missing the state of Louisiana.

It's better than that God-awful "Louisiana Saturday Night."

Well, its better than swamp pop I guess. They should be blaring French zydeco in opposing team locker rooms.

I mean does he even play that guitar that he strings around his neck at concerts?

Yes.

Next stupid question?

I always liked when we played “Saturday Night(‘s alright for fighting)” in pregame.

I’m not really a fan of Calling Baton Rouge, but I let people have their thing. It’s alright. It just seems like a niche song that people are trying to make iconic.

Why does anything need to be played at that point?

Pregame? Why should nothing be played?

People who hold themselves in esteem for the arbitrary act of hating that a song that references BR is played before a football game in BR are incredibly try hard. It's a minute of a well known song that has extremely appropriate subject matter. And it gets people energized before the game. It's really a simple concept and shouldn't harm feelings too much.

People are suceptible to flattery - You put the name of their city (or at least the city of their University/Football team, etc.) in a song, people are going to go gaga over it. It's human nature.

I can't believe a song took on an completely different tone and meaning with its fans. The horror!

Now do it for
Pearl Jam
3rd Eye Blind
Bruce Springsteen
