I don't care where they go as long as it's away from me. Non productive members in our society don't have a place in society in my book. They can frick off for all I care.

Cops won't arrest them unless they're being outright destructive. It's disgusting. Everything Houston tries to do downtown to clean it up is usually trashed by homeless within a few months. I wish we could build concentration camps for these bottom feeding pieces of shite. ZERO of them are in desperate need.

I'm amazed at how coordinated the panhandlers are at the College Drive off ramp at I-10. I take that exit to go home every day from work, and every single day there is one panhandler there, begging money from cars. They never miss a single day. If this was a work crew, they would be the most reliable work crew I've ever seen. And here's the amazing thing. It's always a different hobo. It's almost never the same guy (or gal) twice. It's a different motherfricker pretty much every day. What is there, some sort of website telling these people where to beg in Baton Rouge, where they can sign up for certain days or some shite? They've worn a little path in the grass from walking up and down the off ramp. It's ridiculous.

All of this. I use the same exit every day. Last night I almost hit the dude cuz he ran in front of my car trying to get back to the median after crossing lanes to retreive money.

And you're right. It's always someone different but there's always someone there. I've seen groups of like 2-3 of them sitting under that nearby live oak and they will take turns begging for money. It seems pretty organized.

I have a friend who works part-time at one of those gas stations on College. She says those panhandlers come in all day every day, buying beer and cigarettes. She grew up poor, has worked her way out of it, and doesn't give them squat.

I just say I don't carry cash without breaking stride.

No clue how true this story is, but I was told they essentially have a pimp. He gives them a place to stay, they pandhandle and he gets a %. Thats why they rotate
locations/areas.

I believe it. There is a guy I see sparingly downtown, but he had never propositioned me before. One night, a buddy said he saw him find a sucker then walked back to some well dressed guy in a suit. The next weekend I saw that panhandler get into that guy's luxury SUV and drive off with him at the end of the night.

Flip the script. Ask them for money. Tell them you have bills, a mortgage, an IRA to maintain, lawn service/landscaping crew to pay, vacations to take, premium fuel to buy, dry cleaning, doggy day care, a wife, etc.

I saw some firefighters, or people dressed as firefighters, collecting money in boots at the jefferson/corporate intersection sunday. People were giving them money like it grew on trees.

Maybe those guys were legit, but there's something about people asking for money on the street where I'm sorry but I just will not give to you no matter what. Put in some actual effort and do a legitimate fund raiser.

I used to work a job at a place near an off ramp in New Orleans. This group of vagrants would spread out a blanket in the grass between the lanes of the interstate and pass a good time while one would work the off ramp. At regular intervals, the one would come back to the group, hand off the sign he was using to the next bum in the rotation, and take a break. It was a pretty efficient operation.

When I see a panhandler approaching me, I usually make eye contact and immediately ask if I could borrow a few dollars.

They are immediately put off their game and usually just walk away.

Try it, it works!

I refuse to give a single cent to anyone collecting money at intersections, regardless of the cause. All they do is slow down traffic. It drives me crazy when I'm forced to wait through another light cycle just because the moron two cars up is searching for that elusive dollar bill to give to some kids soliciting money for their trip to the King of Championship Rings baseball tournament.

We have one here in Houston that's well groomed and showered and clean every day. She's been working the same intersection for at least 2 years now and people still give her money. I don't get it.

In Austin, TX, there are usually 4 panhandlers working every major interstate/service road intersection. I don't know if they claim their spots by showing up first, or if they have some sort of a system to keep it all organized. I can't believe that all of the liberals in Austin haven't taxed themselves to provide for these poor downtrodden brothers and sisters.

Every day for me. Can't go anywhere. I work hard for my money, I don't give it out anymore. I'll be stopped at a light and people are coming up to me now. Ask what time it is, then ask if I can spare some change, then they explain they aren't on drugs and what not, just need gas.

Get the frick out of here.

The corner of Corporate and College by the Valero is getting out of hand. Saw two panhandles literally pushing each other the other day, fighting for land rights, it's a very wanted spot to beg.

Just straight up tell them no. People have been taught that they should always get or give explanations, so telling them no throws them off their game.

And yes, there is usually someone that drops them off and picks them up every day. That person is typically in charge of a lot of different bums.

The ones in Houston were the worst I've ever seen. At least in New Orleans, they aren't aggressive and confrontational. Plus, there are like 10 on each block in downtown Houston.

I rarely ever see them in my part of Jefferson Parish. Maybe we arrest them or ship them out, idk. Mandeville had none when I lived there because they'd arrest them.
