wow, you were awefully patient with him...

I got waived over in a dicey area of chicago [ western and lake street], begging for a ride to get gas, I could not accept riders in company van, but I bought the gas and gave him a ten for food, lucky I didn't end up in a dumpster...

Same situation on a smaller scale on I12 exit on O'Neil. Has to be someone coordinating that. You can count on a different person there every afternoon.

I did notice NOLA was full of them this past weekend. A lot more than usual. Able bodied guys and gals that could be doing something productive. Obamas economy working right?

Jazz Fest.

You'll see a lot more of them this coming weekend too.

I would be careful with doing stuff like this. A lot of these guys have mental issues like schizophrenia.

I'm quick to intrupt them if they are telling me some BS story. I always just say "No thank you" and I walk away.

I usually just hold up my hand and say NO as soon as I see them looking my way.

But occasionally, one does sneak up close enough to start giving me their schtick about the car repair, or the funeral, or the ride to the job. For those, I just tell them that they need to move to a new location. I share my local knowledge by telling them that this location has been poisoned for them by con men who regularly work this spot, with lies and bullshite, and that no one is going to believe their "certainly true", but sad story at this location.

Check out the Tchopatoulis (SP?) exit near the convention center. They have a damn community of bums there.

I gave a girl 80 dollars one time. She was at a gas station in a rural area and said she was on her way to Alabama to pick up a friend that ran off from her abusive bf. She asked for help financially getting there. I took a pic of her drivers license and made her call my phone with hers so I would have her number. I actually kept in touch with the girl and she offered to pay me back the money several times. We had a few dates but nothing worth 80 dollars

When I see them at a stop light, I'll look at them, nod, and look away.

The one's that infuriate me are the kids with sports teams/dance groups out there begging for money. They could be doing anything constructive like washing cars, cutting lawns, selling baked goods. All while their coach/supervisor is sitting in a lawn chair.

There's one on Gentilly Blvd and Franklin Ave that popped up recently. There's these kids that are out there selling candy and water while this woman sits under a tree along the street. Those poor kids of missing out on being kids to help out this stupid lazy bitch.

Take a Super Soaker from Toys R Us and some Brute Cologn. When they approach your car give them a blast of the good stuff.

Had the wife at the general on bluebonnet. Went to the car to get a sweatshirt and grab a quick smoke. This real skinny black lady comes up to passanger side door and starts asking for a ride. I asked her to repeat it like three times. Couldn't get it out right I guess. I told her to find somebody else to help her. She sat at the e-room door in a wheelchair the whole time we were.

Was running a chip truck back in the day . And got down at boot on of exit ramp. Had door open in truck and bum asks me if I have any stales I had picked up. All I had was some vinegar and salt chips. The dude said he hadn't eaten in three days . But when I offered him those he said never mind. I ain't THAT hungry. I laughed and gave him a big bag of fresh chips.

Most of us are one accident/sickness/mishap away from being on the street.
Ask yourself how low can your self esteem be to be making fun of beggars? Perhaps higher but I doubt it's much more.

“Show me your hands. Do they have scars from giving? Show me your feet. Are they wounded in service? Show me your heart. Have you left a place for divine love?”

I could probably go to a gas station right now in my work attire and get more people to give me money than a bum trying at the same gas station.

That's because you have big cans.
