Every time someone tries to sell me on Kendrick going back to before maad city I always have the scene from Walk Hard where Tim meadows explains Dewey Cox’s Dylan phase in my head

Why didn't they have The Sugar Hill Gang? Rap was at it's zenith with that group. Funny, understandable, nice message. But nooo

I’d only heard part of one of the songs. There was a song with DNA in it that was the intro song to a Xbox game I used to play. I hate that song. There was no way to stop it from playing after starting the game.

I’m old but that music wasn’t remotely good.

When he started singing fast AF I thought it was a superbowl commercial for valium. I could not understand a word of his banter. I thought this type of music was funny 40 years ago when every other song was Hey Yo put your hands in the air BS..... So glad that is has changed to an artform with a serious message.

Before Not Like Us he was just not that big outside of rap circles. Outside of rap circles even now, anyone over 30 barely knows who he is.

What??? I can't figure this board out. Sometimes I think it's younger people who don't have any life experience on things (like have no idea what an escrow account is), and then other times y'all are like a bunch of old Baptist preachers running AA meetings in a nursing home.

Y'all, it's okay to be culturally educated. You don't have to like him, but pretending like KL isn't mainstream is just silly. Every young person in this country was jamming out to HUMBLE when it came out...in 2017.

And FWIW, the halftime show was meh. Would've much preferred more SZA.

My middle-aged sister and 12-year-old niece were singing along to every song. My SO looked at me and was like “Why aren’t you singing, too?” I freely admit i haven’t been cool for a while now.

Ban rap from the halftime show. It isn't real music. Rappers deliver the energy of a wet rag live. It sucks.

If you listened to pretty much any top whatever playlist on spotify for the last few years, you've likely heard at least one of those Kendrick songs. Humble was a Billboard #1 song for example and was played al over the place.

Not Like Us was huge over the summer on most social media platforms, but I know no one on tOT uses those
