re: I’m old?: That was the first SB halftime show that I had never heard any of the songs.

I’m none of those things either but the who were terrible…just because I knew the songs didn’t make the performance any good

the state of music today is an absolute embarrassment of crap. The best that can be done at the SB at this point is a megastar country or pop star. May as well give the people what they want and book Luke Bryan next, Taylor swift after that. Then just alternate them

Jethro Tull slander will not be tolerated! Ian Anderson back in the day might have been the most entertaining act in music.

Was at a Super Bowl party with roughly 25 adults ages 35-45

Not a single one of us recognized a single song. That included the women too

That's honestly pretty surprising. Humble, All the Stars, and DNA should be recognizable to at least the under 40s in your group. Those songs were all over the place in the mainstream.

ETA: I'm 40 and far from a rap connoisseur and know a majority of the songs last night, but I'm also not a huge Kendrick fan.

I mean, the whole point of the song is Drake is a pedophile and doesn't go about presenting that in any kind of subtle way . Not really radio friendly

Losers surround themselves with other losers so this is not shocking information

Alex Bregman used a Kendrick song as his walk up music at LSU for 3 years and a board full of lsu fans has never heard a Kendrick song before.

I get that, but if a song is not widespread on the radio, the artist is not a Super Bowl Halftime performer

The Halftime Show is about Entertainers not necessarily Artists. Its about Entertainers that put on a big, over the top show with a bunch of songs that even 60 year old white guys have heard.

This was not that

It was terrible. I remember when rap music made you want to dance. That was some gibberish to music I could have made myself. We’ve let wokeness ruin too many things.

He's got plenty of radios songs Look, I'm not saying that was a good halftime show, but there's some bad takes in this thread

Why? Because you say so?

Kendrick is a bit of a niche rapper. He is an artist, that other rappers love, and bigtime rap nerds love.

He is not someone that is wildly in the cultural zeitgeist and mainstream. He's also not some over the top performer.

He is not Usher or Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift or even The Weeknd (another awful and funny halftime show).

That's just not him and it showed. I'm sure it was a great rap show.

it was a bad Super Bowl Halftime Show.
