Im not a native Houman but Ive been here long enough to remember this snowball place. From the road it looked like summer nostalgia incarnate. It was surrounded by big oak trees with a tire swing hanging from one of the big drooping branches. We would stop there to get snowballs after hours spent on the pool deck during summer swim meets. It just seems like the trees could have been incorporated into the design especially since where they were located is now nothing more than an unused parking lot.

Probably the insurance company had something to do with this.

It went from a seedy eye sore to a cleaner eye sore.

Thanks,

I was looking for a lunch inspiration, now I have Chick Fil A on my mind.

I guess I will have to go there.

But yes, the CFA-East Houma is pretty much paved lot with no shade until the trees start growing. The place is pretty mid to low volume compared to the location on MLK. But they have much more parking and larger cueing space. They also have a double drive all the way through. So that hides from all the horrors of some locations where the line spills into the street so you have to give that to them as far as planning goes.

No offense, but that shite looks overgrown... and there seems to be a palm tree in there that needs to be pruned...

That was a legit snowball spot back in the day.

Nothing like eating your waffle fries on your tailgate and having seagulls swarming around. CFA being right there must really put a hurting on the Wendy's next door.

The MBA says to reduce all maintenance costs. So no trees. Either that or, as someone mentioned, insurance. I’m not a fan of shrubs but I do like to have trees, and add them wherever I go.

I think it has.

Wendy's is pretty much empty at lunch. What is bad is that even without the foot traffic, the CFA drive thru will still beat the Wendy's drive through without a single car in line.

That Wendy's stopped doing breakfast.

They’re all awful. I can’t think of another franchise that has fallen so far so quickly. What happened to them? Private equity?

They removed what was probably a 100 year old live oak in Gonzales.

I'm not really a fan of Chik but that sealed it for me.

There were 3 massive live oaks. I work nearby. It was a terrible sight to see.
