It's basically a question of "where does the seabreeze end". The NW gulf gets the benefit of getting a little under the big heat domes that scortch Texas and Oklahoma too. The air feels heavy.

That’s the HIGH. You are spending the vast vast majority of your day in the 70s
If I include the September month, which is still the summer, he average high is easily in the 70s

I do like the hot, humid nights in the summer here, though. Nothing like going out to the creeks after a flood for some gigging and it's still 82 and 90% at midnight.

Yeah but summertime there is a breeze compared to South LA with 100 degree 100 humidity

This is true, ten degrees difference.
Average Temperatures for July and August:
New Orleans, LA: 92/92
Portland, ME: 79/78
Only a difference of 13 or 14 degrees. New Orleans and Maine are basically the exact same in the summer too, according to your logic.

The real comparison is days where the dew point is over 70 degrees. That’s basically 4 straight months in New Orleans. Chicago averages 30 days during the summer

Eh, it's probably not quite that cool, but it's pretty nice. We spend most of the summer in the 75 - 85 range, and the temperature doesn't modulate much day to night (not like up in the northern reaches of the Upper Midwest).
It is certainly far, far, far better than any city in the Deep South during the summer and to insinuate otherwise is ridiculous.
One thing that the Chicagoland area has that the Gulf Coast also has is that it gets humid as frick once you get a good ways away from the water (10 - 15 miles or so). Playing some of the better golf courses around here in the middle of July weaving through blistering corn fields isn't a picnic. I've heard people say that places like Iowa, eastern Nebraska, and western Illinois are much harder in the summer, and I can certainly believe that.

I live in northern Ohio. It's winter. It's to be expected to have cold temps and - wind-chill

People in Chicago probably love that shite. Most likely the best time of the year to be able to go outside without getting murdered

The US record dew point reading is from Wisconsin. It hit 90. Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin are littered with 85+ readings throughout our records.
