Would I choose it as the ideal climate? No. It's a hell of a lot better than cities in the Deep South, though. Especially if you are outside of the heating properties of large, close buildings.

When the reference is 92 and more humid, it actually sounds fricking awesome.

Give me 80 degrees with 50%-75% humidity every day in the summer and I will be on the Nationwide Tour in three years.

I mean is it any different than running the AC in the summer in the south?
IDK, thats why I was asking. Summer AC can max out at $160 but only tops out over $120 for a few months a year.

I don't think the humidity is anywhere near as bad in Chicago as it is even in places like Kentucky and Tennessee, much less the Deep South. I've lived all over the country - only place with better summers is Seattle.

It'll get humid in snaps but storms come through and break it after a day or two.

I know people who moved to South La from places like Huntsville and Memphis that weren't prepared for the summer struggle. Houston to Biloxi along the coast is a different brand of misery.

It's like saying that winters in Louisville and Milwaukee are the same. Sure, they are both cold, but one is discernibly colder.

Protip-

Dress in layers, wear a coat, don't sleep on a park bench.

You even Chicago bro? This city is going nonstop in the summer...jammed street fests every weekend, rooftop bars, al fresco dining, beaches filled, boats everywhere...there's not a better summer city in the country.

LINK - In the "play pen"

Also, the beach has the most public volleyball courts of any city in the country. We used to be down there just about every weekend partying and playing vball all day. Unreal fun times.

Directly on the coast is pretty nice, but that range of 15-70 miles of the Gulf towards the interior is awful.

Yep. Because you never escape the discomfort. At night it’s still miserable to be outside

I lived in Nashville for years, and while the summer days were still impressive like here, I could go outside at night and be very comfortable

NOLA summers are basically equivalent to Chicago summers.

Only on the OT Lounge, folks.

OP - Find a nice bar, grab yourself a bourbon, and enjoy. Then just brave the 10ft walk from the bar to an Uber, and the Uber to the front door of your hotel. Cold weather is not as debilitating as some on here would have you believe.

In terms of activities, yes, Chicago thrives in the summer but the weather is still hot and humid

When lsupride lied and said it was comfortable and 70 degrees

LMAO

This is true, ten degrees difference. Chicago goes above 90 a few times too

The big difference is the spring weather

Talking about average temps isn’t the right argument.

The real comparison is days where the dew point is over 70 degrees. That’s basically 4 straight months in New Orleans. Chicago averages 30 days during the summer.

Hell I live in Charlotte and used to live in Chicago and Chicago’s summers are considerably better than here and Charlotte ain’t New Orleans.

Granted, I like the weather better here the other 9 months, so it’s all good.
