My wife kept our baby chickens in my office. I heard chirping all day. For weeks. It was engrained in my head that chirping was appropriate background noise. Had to put an end to it, so they moved to my office bathroom. Then they became my pooping buddies.

They're getting big, quick. So I'm hoping to be able to put them outside in a cage in the next few weeks. I'm repurposing an old ferret cage I had as a kid lol. How many weeks did yall wait until you put them outside? I'm new to the whole chimken thing.

As soon as they feather out and/or weather doesn’t dip too low at night. Not an exact time. Last year mine went out in 6 weeks. This year they went out in 29 days.

Also agree with the other poster, if constantly chirping, they’re lacking something. Heat, food, water, etc.

This could be the only silver lining to tinnitus. Can’t hear them at all.

You’ve already shown what you’re capable of doing to other birds.

No wonder that they are so worried.

What is your setup do you have them inside? If you have a brooder, heat lamp, food , water source and pine chips as a floor. Chicks are easy.
Try maintain 90 degree have enough space for them to get away from heat lamp. Wife and kids have raised a bunch check them about 3 times a day and let them grow.

Once they start developing their feathers you can cut the light off.

After a few days the only thing that will really hurt them is over heating, and if one goes rogue and starts pecking. The chirping won’t stop for a while.

Add coyotes to the mix now

Coyotes and chicks go well together. As soon as the chicks are old enough to put outside, they will bond with the yotes and form a super-pack. You may even look out one night and see one if your birds running at the head like Buck in Call of the Wild.

We have 4 chows and a black lab. The coyotes would have to make an offering to the ring leader, and he hates cartoons, so

They're pecking at the sides of the container at night, got a heat lamp on them and I've wondered if they could be getting too hot, but they don't look like anything's really bothering them. I think they're just a rowdy bunch honestly

Only 10? Keep them in a box for a few weeks in the garage or something. then put them outside in the coop.
