If you did it to better yourself then it wasn’t stupid. Much more stupid things you could do. Stick with it and you’ll gain a lot once you work out the kinks and will be even better off.

Hopefully you were parked when you posted this.

Edit: Re-read and saw you were parked.

Are your windshield wipers at least working?

New breaks, new windshield wipers and repair things as you discover them one at a time. You ain't the only one got to learn how to stand on their own two feet. Don't sweat it dude. Stay alive

Can you just hang out for a while until the weather passes?

Regardless, best of fortune and safety to you.

This is the one time I’m ok driving with flashers on even if your wipers can keep up. Usually I only say use them if it’s raining so hard they can’t keep up.

No shite!

First of all…what kind of truck?

Really doesn’t matter if it’s anything other than a Chevy or a Toyota then you fricked up.

If the transmission and engine are solid, it’s worth fixing. YouTube is your friend. Make friends with someone who has a commercial account at O’Reilly. You may have a decent investment, depending on how much you paid in the first place.

What kind of truck is it?
32 years old? It's going to have disc brakes on the front and should have halogen headlights.
Maybe it needs wiper blades?
RainX the hell out of that windshield and drive home. Start fixing everything tomorrow.

I hope you made it home safely. If it's that bad, maybe flip it for cash to someone taking them south of the border. If you're around BR, I know some folks that can help out or at least shoot you straight on what needs to be fixed

Bring it back to the seller and drive it right thru his front door into the living room. Seems to be the thing to do.

Ended up getting an Uber and leaving the truck to get at a later time .

I was not prepared to accept that I just pissed the money away.

Anyway, its a 92 Ford F150.

Something I'm fairly confident in working on. However I did not spend the time necessary to check the thing and everything on the test drive felt good enough to at least get home in. I was wrong.

I'll make another attempt at it when its dry. The sliding was less the rain and more the shoddy brakes. But the two combined was too dangerous to even consider.

I was in an extremely pissed off and vile mental state during the realization I fricked up. I browsed the OT to blow off some steam waiting on the rain to quit. Ended up using this board to vent a little.

Thanks for all the help.

ETA: Assuming people are well intentioned is something I will never do again, I took way too much at face value and paid for it.

ETA ETA: Also realized halfway through the Uber trip that I left my entire wallet in the truck. Very thankful there's nothing worth stealing in it currently. I've apparently sinned heavily in a past life.

First off thanks for posting about some real world shite.

Second!y, that truck is a classic. My uncle owned one like this for years. Single cab. He kept it up and sold it with many og parts. Buy some tools and jacks, the work is easy . No computer bullshite. happy Trails

Man, you're freaking out over small shite.
Fix the brakes, wipers and lights, it's easy and won't cost much.

1) Fix the brakes and get good tires. You should be good once those are taken care of.
2) If it's too dangerous to drive and you're worried, just don't do it. When I was young and driving conditions sucked, I always brushed it off and said it wasn't a big deal, but if the rain is heavy or it gets really really dark, I don't see well. And it ain't worth risking you or someone else's life on the road just to get to your destination quicker. Really isn't worth it.

Forgot about getting windshield wipers definitely definitely have new/good ones.

I've slid already.

I slid yesterday taking a curved exit off the interstate. I was pulling a trailer too which made it worse. My truck is only 4 years old and my tires are A/Ts and low miles on them. It was my fault for taking the exit too fast. I pooped a little at first but let off the gas and was OK. Too many people slam on the brakes in those situations and make it worse.

Just pay attention and be careful. Better safe than sorry.

For real. She runs, that's the main thing.

You can't control the weather, OP, and you know where to start to make it more reliable. You sound willing to put in some work on the truck, which means you're in better shape than when you left out earlier today.

I've owned lots of POS vehicles in my life. It's no big deal. Fix the safety shite first and fix the other stuff along the way. YouTube can be a big help too. Don't sweat it just fix it. You'll learn a lot about your truck and about you. Good luck
