Leaving Mexico out of it since it has nothing to do with this story... I'm not sure that illegal immigration can be directly linked to an increase in violent crime but this family makes an argument:

Quick hijack
But anyone that podcast and wants to listen to an interesting on surrounding illegal immigrants crossing our southern border should check out the newest "This American Life #608". I just listened last night and they interview a border guard in which I learned a lot from. The guys are more of a welcoming committee and their hands are tied behind Their backs. All the immigrants have to say when they get caught is that they are seeking asylum from gang violence in Central America and that if they go back they will be killed. Then BOOM we have to treat them as asylum seekers instead of illegal and it takes an average of 6years before their case even makes it to the courts in which time they are free to be in the US.
Insanity. Seriously trump has to fix this and I Believe he can do it executivly

The people of Baton Rouge alienated this family and caused them to break what some may classify as societies norms.
