Private beach we went to in Seagrove had no tent rule, but can rent chairs 50$ per day since it wasn’t included in rental. Couldn’t get front row if you didn’t rent the damn chairs. So just forked over the money to make wifey happy. Was nice not hauling as much crap… but still definitely scam for 50$ a day
Bring umbrellas and set up below the high tide mark. The beach in between the water and mean high tide (generally accepted as the visible high tide mark) is a public resource. I think they can still enforce the no tent rule (safety issue) but umbrella and beach chairs are good to go.

Only logically explanation is that beach security along the Alabama-Florida Gulf coast is getting a cut from IKE's beach chair rentals
I was just beside FloBama at Phoenix 10.
The tent policy is an Orange Beach city ordinance so I dragged my tent thirty yards to the Florida line (white flag on beach) and set my tent there- not even 20 feet from the shore.
I had a shitty gameday wagon though so it was a shitty time dragging the damned thing across the sand. Did it Sunday thru Friday.
fwiw those chair boys said I could do that too..

All of this shite sounds miserable and that’s the reason we just go to a resort in Mexico for the beach instead of going to Bama or Florida.
- Just as easy to get there
- Costs less money
- No dragging shite down to the beach or renting chairs
- Mexican senoritas waiting on you like you’re a king

$200 a day for 4 days is $800 idiot. I’m far from poor, but if you weren’t so out of shape maybe you could carry your families stuff. My word it isn’t even that much. My kids and wife carry they own chair, towel and bag. I carry umbrellas and cooler. Wow.
Agreed. Renting a beach chair caters to the fat lazy crowd.
Which explains why 85% of the people I've seen have a BMI of 40+.
Haul your shite out there like a man.

Seeing the regular redneck riviera pissing matches and bitching threads make me so thankful I grew up in a mountain lake vacation family.
Saw folks in michigan gear down there. Told my wife, if we did not live within a reasonable drive, there is not a chance in hell I'd go to the Gulf Coast. Would be renting a cabin on lake michigan.
Saw some folks this morning making their way out to the second sand bar. Could see from our balcony they were about 20 feet away from sharks.
Give me a freshwater lake and boat all day

We bring our own chairs and umbrellas and set up before Ike gets to our spot. It results in an argument annually and the 19 year eventually backs down and leaves. The rest of the week he know that’s my spot.

Working my way up over the decades and now having money to pay for chairs and umbrellas makes me less of a man? I think it makes me more of a man. You keeping humping that shite back and forth every day like the sunburned mule you are. Blast the Zac Brown brah. Cheeseburger in Paradise brah! Just kick some sand over that cigarette butt brah! Cops be trippin' brah!

It was $50 per day for 2 chairs in front and an umbrella. Done and done.
Btw, if you’re an impoverished minority family that commandeers someone else’s chairs in their absence, the rental guys won’t say anything. That’s where we are these days.

but can rent chairs 50$ per day
50 dollars a day…damn I am in the wrong business. One day rental pays for the chairs, the next day can cover the labor, the next day is grift to local politicians and law enforcement to mandate your chairs, and the rest is profit.

The reason you are poor is because you suck at math and facts. But at least you are good at carrying stuff in the searing heat, like a mule.
Is it $50 a chair/day or $50 for entire rental? Because if it’s per chair per day then he’s not wrong and

I can't imagine anything more boring that sitting under an umbrella on the beach. We used to meet a group of friends for a week in PCB and ALL of the women would rent chairs and umbrellas. They would use them the first couple of days for maybe 4 hours and then they may or may not use them again for the rest of the week. If the week started on Saturday by Monday they'd spend the entire day around the pool. It'd been more logical to simply stay in Atlanta and spend the day around the pool. Vacations ain't about logics.....

I rent chairs and still haul a ton of shite to the beach. People who haul their chairs use a cart most of the time anyway.
