I filled my apartment with $300 worth of ikea furniture and people love it more than I do. Thumbs up from me

depends, but it is certainly not high quality

I'd definitely use it for a bachelor pad or kids rooms though

would you be excited if you found out an IKEA store was opening in your home town?

As stand alone stuff, you kind of have to have a certain style for it to work.

But, there are innumerable DIY projects which start with basic IKEA components. Their prices are pretty good for what you get, but that value drops quickly if you have to pay a lot for shipping.

I think the quality is above junk, in some cases significantly above - again when you do a value comparison (minus shipping) plus all of the Pinterest and other DIY recipes using the components - they're fairly convenient shorthand for stuff like that.

I'd be glad it was a convenient option and was bringing competition to the market, but I probably wouldn't really care.

Their Swedish meatballs are good.

My friend started a company called Soapbox, furniture that is even easier to assemble than Ikea

Just went to his website. Awesome idea for a business.

Did he get a degree in Architecture or furniture design?

They have a sort of Blueberry Torte that is delightful.

Other than that furniture's woman's work.

I bought stuff for the kids rooms and playroom from there because my kids will beat the hell of it.

We've been to the one in Atlanta a few times. Never bought any of the furniture, but it seemed legit. The assemble it yourself part turned me off from it. I've done enough of that over the years with cribs and beds to want to do it with anything else.

Probably weird, but my favorite purchase from Ikea is a set of 6 little glasses. They're Octagonally shaped on the bottom and round on the top, and probably only hold about 6 oz max. More like 3 when you add ice. They're identical to the ones my granddad used to drink his scotch out of. Just plain little glasses, but when I saw them I had to buy them. I think I paid less than $10 for the set. It is my go-to when drinking whisky now.

Ed Norton likes it... A lot!

My wife has gotten some bathroom floor mats and some dog toys from there. I wouldn't do much of the big stuff unless you're in a temp home/apt. Good luck!

All my kitchen cabinets are Ikea. I've had them for over a year and am very pleased. They have a lot of cool features, like dampers that prevent you from being able to slam the doors and some innovative ways to use corner spaces.

Using a couple of pieces right now that will be tossed in July. Not bad for temporary use
