Wasn't it Ford who designed the one specific model they test to be better than all of the others? I think the other model F150s did horribly

As a Tundra owner, this was a pretty damning test result. I've stayed with Yota all my life due to the reliability and safety ratings, but simply can't argue against this.

All that said, have any Tundra haters seen the vehicle after an actual hard collision? 9 out of 10 times, the other vehicle is totaled while the Tundra is barely dented.

Are you laughing because it's such an obvious statement, or because you disagree?

If the latter, I'd love to hear why.

I'd imagine if all other variables besides 1/2 ton truck A and 1/2 ton truck B are equal, that the results would be the same.

i was just laughing at the statement in general, you know how i like to alert tundra owners that their trucks are no better than others on the road.

This is just more proof.

i would like to see where you got this data. because there is a 100% chance you just made it up.

A honda ridgeline isn't a full size truck

The tundra got such poor marks in comparison to its peers due to the current frame tech being from the ‘07 model year. The truck is siting on a 10+ year old frame. The other trucks they tested are much newer in that regard.

It will be interesting to see what the data shows once the Tundra gets updated to the new Toyota TGNA platform.

i’m sure this is a dumb question, but is it normal for there to be a substantial difference in the frame “integrity” between the driver and passenger side such that you see a safety issue between the two?

Wow. I get you want data backed up by reports, but you seem triggered by my post. I admit the Tundra looks bad here, but I'm also saying that I'd still prefer my yota over any other truck listed on this report (especially a Honda Ridgeline)

It would have just been easier to say you made that shite up.

Not dumb to me. I can’t think of any significant frame differences side to side on the GM trucks that I have owned.

Tundra’s usually fall apart when you leave the lot.

Not shocked.

IIHS used to only test the driver's side on some of these overlap tests so many automakers would add extra steel or crash bars on that side to perform better on a certain test.

Now they're testing both sides so they need to make adjustments to perform as well on both sides if they haven't already.

Add to the poor crash tests the fact that pickups are essentially the worst at active safety and they are pretty much the least safe/survivable of all cars/lt duty trucks.

Active safety is more important to me than anything in the safety sphere.

Just illustrates how bogus these awards are.

I'm happy that they consider headlights in with their decision. Hopefully it pushes automakers to have better headlights with less glare so there will be less dumbasses sticking HIDs or aftermarket LEDs into their POS blinding everyone within a mile.

That being said, I was a little surprised to see the F-150 LEDs be given a poor rating. I'm pretty happy with mine, although they're not as good as my wife's SUV with LED projectors.

The driver and passenger side injuries are usually different in each different teat, note the OP only shows small overlap front collision. The reason is not that there is much asymmetry in the vehicle shell but on the inside. You will also see differences with the different collision modes of the full tests.
