That's some stupid shite. "Well enough to go to the doctor"?? As opposed to not going to the dr and likely dragging out the illness?

The doc can decide if you're well enough. You want someone that goes to the doctor and is diagnosed with strep or the flu to come in to work? If you do, you are an idiot!

Exactly. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing some hollow eyed, miserable person lurching around the office, looking like they should be pushing an IV stand, spreading their disease to everyone around them. It doubly pisses me off when on top of them getting you sick, you then take it home to your kids and they get sick.

Agree/disagree?

I don't go to the doctor for fun, so if I am there I am not well enough to be at work.

What about if you go to the ER on your own?
What if you're contagious?

Not universally true, but some people need to learn the difference between being sick and not feeling your best.

Last year I spent 3 days in the hospital hooked up to an IV from African food poisoning. I worked the same as if I was in my office. fricking technology.

god, I can't wait for baby boomers to retire.

this line of thinking is laughable.

I can do 97% of my work from my phone/notebook.

if I have strep throat, you old "traditional" office folks can kiss my arse. i'm going to the doc to get good drugs and going back to bed.

Perfect. Now the entire office can be sick and your company loses money due to lack of productivity

Besides my annual appointment to get BC, I haven't been to a Dr. since 2004. Doesn't mean there aren't days I don't feel great and stay home. As I progress in my career, I have realized I have never taken more than 3 days off in a row. I work hard, but I am coming to realize the days of employer/employee loyalty are over. You wanna go to the Dr. and not go in, yeah, you can do that. Most people are not curing cancer and shite. Another journal entry wasn't posted, another ditch wasn't dug? Oh well. Most of our jobs don't really matter, in the scheme of things. Just a way to make money and be comfortable till we check out.

Dumb thread of the day. If you are SICK enough to go to the doctor then you are sick enough to stay home from work. Your thread title and finish doesn't make sense.
