If you're in the market for a new/used car...WAIT.

Dealerships are losing grip on price control and starting to phase incentives back in. Prices will continue to go down.

"Market Adjustments" above MSRP are evaporating fast.

Inventory is increasing and manufacturers have announced they expect to return to pre-pandemic production levels in 2023.

But those scumbag dealers are going to try to squeeze every last penny out of this market if they can.

You're right, but dealerships will lie through their teeth that it isn't and/or won't happen...

The market is moving in your favor...time is on your side. but dealerships will try to convince you otherwise

We'll have a new driver this year too but she's getting my wife's older car. Will have to get my wife something else though.

Was in a dealership last weekend and they offered $7500 as an electric vehicle incentive since the new tax credit doesn't include foreign cars. They also threw a couple thousand in other incentives without me having to ask.

Market is definitely shifting.

just went through it this last month with my 16 year old.

we didn't get raped, but i spent more than i was hoping. that being said, i was planning on spending $10k on a 12 YO small to mid-sized truck with 130kish miles.

i instead spent $12k on a much larger and nicer 8 YO car with 160k miles. everything around $10k was 15 YO and over 200k.

not ecstatic, but we haven't had a truck in years because of me having a company vehicle and it had gotten annoying.

Supply & demand. No different than your average crawfish farmer.

When supply comes back up for new cars the demand and prices for used ones will drop.

excuse me Comrade, but this is a capitalist society. Maximizing profits is what you're supposed to do- albeit ethically. You don't have to buy their product. Just wait.

The serivce department is where they really screw you, anyway.

I don't particular like the car sales industry either. But why is someone a scumbag for maximizing profit if the consumer is willing to pay the sales price?

I would like a new car. But I don't absolutely need one at the moment. So I will wait either until I do, or the market goes down. Many don't take that approach. That's not the car dealers fault.
