Is it only the new engines that are shite? What about the rest of the truck?

You're right.

Per various sources, Tundra's have a about a 5% better resale than Ford/GM in the full-size segment.

I didn't remember that being the case in 2010ish.

Ill have my crow de-featherd and deep-fried, if you don't mind.

It's a shame these engines are in the Lexus too. People still lining up to buy the GX 550

Careful.

A lot of these guys can determine pecker size and orientation by the vehicle you drive.

I guess if you're going to have a take, it might as well be a hot take.

It really isn't. Coincides with Toyotas development of their Lexus brand, some great books on the topic but I doubt you'd read them and they don't have many pictures even if you were so inclined.

Pretty much none in the fullsize market now. Maybe when CAFE standards are relaxed such that OEMs can go back to putting larger V6's and V8's in their trucks, bigger transmissions instead of cramming more gears into existing cases, and simply putting money back into QC instead of pushing into an EV market that doesn't exist.

As what? That I hate Toyota? I'll be going to my bank this morning to wire the funds to pay for my new Toyota SUV. I guess having an objective and educated understanding of this industry offends you? Give your posting history I can see why...

I respect your opinions ( though we'll always disagree about the 5 4 ), but Lexus, and to a lesser extent, Infiniti, was a gamechanger in the luxury segment in the 90s.

People fled BMW and MB because they were sick of going to the dealer every 10K miles for some weird, complicated problem.

The Germans finally noticed and made their cars better.

I am personally grateful to the them for that

hey baw, I'm looking at new trucks, I guess it's too early to have much data on 2026 models but has Chevy/GMC worked out their transmission issues? I'm probably going to get one of those or a Ford

The 10sp I have in the 26 is fine, as was the 22, but only had 20K on that one. SIL has 50K on his 23, no issues, all Fords. Much improved from the earlier 10spds.

The 10 speed is the answer to a question no one asked, but they seem better now.

I'd stay with a V-8.

right, I looked at Fords the other day and that's the only option, I would have gotten one but they didn't have much of an inventory and aren't expecting anymore till March, thanks, btw

There's a great book called "The Relentless Pursuit" that details the development of Lexus as a brand and the LS400. That's why I say Toyota peaked in terms of a pure reliability standpoint because it utterly consumed their engineering and production mindset going into launching that car and brand. Some would argue that there was a trickle down effect from Lexus into Toyota vehicles as far as QC but Lexus was truly a stand-alone product in that regards. Toyota as a whole peaked and plateaued for some time into the 2000's for building a vehicle you could put 300k - 500k+ miles on without blinking. Now is definitely not the case, I opted for the extended warranty on my Toyota, a first for any vehicle for me.
