And you could go back to any point in time pre 1600, what time period would you pick and which country?

So I have modern knowledge?

Can I bring anything back?

Gimme the US. Abundant resources and not a much resistance or population.

Use my knowledge of modern tech and other things to conquer Canada, then Mexico, bringing them into the fold. Dazzle them with the riches of superior tech and the glory of conquest.

Move the conquest down to S America.

Adopt the mongol policy. If you surrender and join us, you can share in the glory and munificence of the Empire.

If you resist, we will eliminate you to a man.

Once the conquest of the Americas is complete, work on building the greatest navy the world has ever seen.

Invade with overwhelming force at the Horn of Africa, offering same terms.

Join or be annihilated.

Move north through Africa and split the army, stopping before the Sahara.

Army Group 1 goes east, ships waiting around Liberia. Navy sails the straights of Gibraltar, taking the straights, North and South. Foothold in Spain, conquer Eastward through North Africa.
army Group 2 goes up the Suez and takes Middle East.

I don’t even understand the premise but whatever. I guess the Mongols came closest to actually conquering the world pre 1600 so I guess I’d do that.

Mongolia - 1,200's, maybe take over for Genghis.

Horse armies were the strength of the Mongols but they also had enough naval capability to invade Japan twice. Take some good plans for the ships and designs for cannon and good gunpowder and world domination would not be difficult. The Mongols pretty much had that anyway.

World domination is impossible pre-1600. There is roughly zero chance you would be able to conquer the entire world and hold it all at one time. The tech simply isn't there. As soon as your military moves on, someone is going to rise up. It would require modern surveillance and missile tech to even have a shot, and even then, you're more likely to end up with a world filled with rubble than one that is "dominated" in any useful sense.

Prehistory

Create biological androids that are containers for non-localized consciousness that are preoccupied with copulating and war allowing for:

- Westworld like experiences (for fricking and fighting) by entities wanting to be jacked in
- A planet of organic spare parts
- A planet of biological weapons/ mercenaries

Place limitation on local interstellar travel by allowing a limited, material reductionist, gravity centric model understanding of physics
Place control systems for complete surveillance (the moon, it is glaringly out of place)

Create a PACMan like existence (constantly consuming, chasing arse (Mrs PacMan), and running from demons/ghosts...)

Recreate the experiment cyclically / as needed by wiping the slate clean (think dinos...)

Ubik

When Colin and Stefan drop acid, we get a better look at Colin’s blow-up of the Ubik book cover and we see groovy spray paint is pouring out of a paint can. Ubik is arguably Dick’s most respected and revered novel. In 2009 Timenamed it one of the best 100 novels since 1923, Michel Gondry held the rights to turn it into a film for years and gave up in 2011, and author Jonathan Lethem has a tattoo of the spray can cover on his arm. What is the spray can? It’s a fake sci-fi product, which can reverse certain events, but also might be God leaking into our own world. Basically, if you get sprayed with Ubik, you get linked to something called half-life, in which you start to become aware of other timelines.

An observation:
Spray painting is a very popular activity in a popular alternative reality named Fortnite...
Do you like to re-spawn??? Similar to PACMAN?

Dick's work influenced The Matrix, Total Recall, Bladerunner and many modern works of science "fiction"...

Create electric sheep who learn to love their enslavement...

Why go back that far? Give me a computer with thousands of patents and historical knowledge, and it wouldn’t take me much time.

Surely the easiest would be Great Britain say 5 years pre Americans independance?

I already control 1/3 of the world and the sun never sets on my empire.

Knowing what we know we could crush the revolution, expand out west and kick start a gold rush to fund the empire even further.

Unite the tribes under a single banner. Join or Die. Knowledge of future tech will allow a huge leap in development. Rebuff Spanish invaders. Many Gods under one empire built on blood.

Superior tech gives a smaller army the ability to take on foes outnumbered.

Knowledge of furure events allows them to be used for advantage.

Also will use an infiltration campaign to draw recruits from far off places with the promise of conquest and glory

Oh and the first think i’m Developing are antibiotics and vaccines!

Spain
1500s
They had all the money and should have ruled the world for the next 500 years but invested their wealth in debt and wars instead of infrastructure.

Start around 1700-1750 or so.

I would concentrate most of my forces in North America to start. Hopefully take care of any isolated pockets of resistance, then leave a decent size force in Alaska (to defend from Asia) and Greenland (to defend from Europe)

I then continue to South America and make the jump to Africa. Holding Africa can be a bit of a challenge but the extra men I get from North America and South America helps.

Next, try to take Europe in one turn w/ my forces from Greenland assisting.

The amount of time to take Asia could vary depending on how much time my enemies have spent killing each other.

After that, Australia should be easy.

Scandinavia around 850ish. If you could take knowledge with you about gunpowder and firearms (and the manufacturing thereof), then you could likely conquer and unite the entire Scandinavian peninsula before too long. Using gunpowder you could probably also pull off some tricks to make them think you were Thor incarnate. Scandinavia was poor, though, so you’d then have to take the petty kingdoms of British isles, before turning your attention to fractured but still powerful Carolingian kingdoms. The things the Scandinavians possess that would cause me to pick them is their knowledge of shipbuilding and sailing. It would allow you to travel to North America, all over the Mediterranean, and traverse the larger rivers of Europe, Africa, and the near East to strike at your enemies quickly.
