If you were scheduled to go to Sarasota from Sept 16 to Sept 20, what would you do?

Not sure on your travel arrangements, but probably can't do anything quite yet without getting charged for some type of change / cancel fee.
Wait a few days - if you need to cancel, your hotel / airline should be more than accommodating once they make a decision on their plan of action.

You should probably just wait and see. I'm sure if Irma is as bad as they're thinking and turns North and run up the state of Florida you won't have to make a decision because a lot of these place will get heavy damage and they themselves will cancel

Spoken like someone who's never been there... Siesta Key is the nicest beach in America.. lots of other things to do as well for a medium-sized city.. that said, if i were the OP-- i would resked.
