Nobody can answer that without knowing the status of the civilization the alien is coming from. Without having perspective, it's impossible to answer.

Let’s say they’re technically on par with us with the ability to see our satellite broadcasts. That is their only source of information on us, what we broadcast over our tv and communication satellites.
