one of the Navy pilots at the air show was "Cherry." His last name was Koch ("coke"). I thought that was pretty good.

During OIF 1 we had an Air Force team assigned to us for CAS missions. The OIC/pilot was a Bama grad and his squad mates did indeed give him the "Gump" Call sign. Our call sign was cougars and so he would answer all radio traffic as Cougar Gump. It was funny as hell to hear him on the radio.
Or at least it seemed pretty damn funny at the time!
