I would live the same as I do believing in Jesus. In my personal experiences, doing good and acting positive has a better outcome than being negative in situations. Why not go with the better outcome? It’s your choice to make things better or worse, easy or difficult.

Side note, belivers in Christ aren’t held to a good/bad behavior list. If your believe he is the savior of our sins then you will be rewarded eternity. Example, the criminal on the cross next to Jesus who proclaimed his belief that Jesus was the Lord.

100% agree.

I try to avoid religious debates with people I know but when things like this are said I want to ask, “So belief in God is the only thing that keeps you from doing bad things?”

if the only thing keeping you decent is the belief in reward/punishment after death then you are a real piece of shite.

I disagree

Our world is so complex yet designed so simple I believe there’s a creator but to each their own

It wouldn’t change how I treat people

It's hard to believe in the true goodness of church goers when inside the confines of the house of God everyone is all "peace brother" but once it's time to go home and catch that Saints game at noon its "Move outta my way motherfricker!" leaving the parking lot.

Truth. I know this woman who acts/believes that she's such a devout Christian, yet her actions speak otherwise. She uses people with no regard of their mental/emotional well-being. She lies, fabricates, and cheats. Always plays the victim but never the user/abuser. As you said, in her example, she is good as long as it helps her.

This kind of statement always makes me curious.

So many people who believe like you have typed here have no explanation for the origins of life except conjecture and most likely believe in space aliens: No evidence of that either. Yet they always seem to poo poo the idea of the supernatural. I find this fascinating.

Why do we have to have an explanation for the origins of life? why is it so hard for people to simply say "I don't know". Our origins are buried in time.

Amen

After years spent studying Christianity, religion/theology, philosophy, etc, I believe this is one of the few universal truths

I don't. Whatever works for a guy, is my belief.

Impossible.

Well, think of it this way: Every atom that is part of your make-up will remain unchanged. It's just the way they interact that defines you, after all.

Now apply infinity. At some point you'll exist again.

Would how I act in my current life affect how my afterlife goes? Like, is karma a thing? Are we reincarnated? Is the afterlife heaven/hell?

After you tell me these answers, I'll answer if it'll affect how I live my life.

How do you know though? I'm not going to argue that you're wrong and I'm right, nor am I going to get into a debate about belief vs nonbelief.

But if we're going to stick to the facts, one of them is you truly have nothing to back up your statement.

I'm going to go with the thousands of years and texts that were written that say otherwise. Between Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim - and different versions of afterlife in other wordly religions.

This.

Most level-headed agnostics will admit that there simply isn't any way to definitively declare the non-existence of God/the afterlife.

I'm curious as to how many times he's died. I hope he enlightens us.
