Well let me say this.
If I am right to believe that there is a Heaven and a Hell then I am a winner regardless. If I die and go to Heaven then I have overcome the world and if I die and there is nothing then I didn’t lose anything so no fear on my part. On the other hand, if I am right then the eternity that you and non believers will be the worst thing imaginable. I pray that the fear would be yours.

This is known as Pascal's Wager and I think it's BS:

1. You cannot force yourself to believe in anything, no matter how much you might want to. Example: If I could somehow read your thoughts, put a gun to your head, and told you I'll pull the trigger unless you believe the world is flat, could you truly force yourself to believe the world is flat? Even with your life at stake? I could not.

2. Since you can't force yourself to believe, an all knowing creator would know that you are essentially just hedging your bets. That would be less than a cheap parlor trick to a true god and I doubt it would win you any favor.

Except you can't say for a fact that there isn't a heaven.

Sure, some believe that doing xyz will get them into heaven. However, they’re following these rules and customs due to their faith in Jesus which will give them everlasting life.

The rules don’t bring them to heaven, their faith does. In Christianity, everyone is born a sinner. You cannot fix that and that’s why Jesus was sent here from God. If you were able to act perfectly then there would be no reason for Jesus to have been sacrificed.

This is true in the same sense that we "can't say for a fact" that Valhalla, the Elysian Fields, or the Western Pure Land don't exist. It isn't much of an argument because there's no proof that Heaven exists, either. If you believe in any of those places, you're taking it on faith.

That's the whole point...trying to overcome the inner "move out of my way motherfricker" in all of us. To believe in "the true goodness" of any person is misguided, simply because of our humanity.

This is absolutely unquantifiable. Unless you absolutely know what people believe, rather than what they profess...you have no way of knowing if this statement is actually true.

There is also no proof that Heaven doesn't exist. I agree with you that it takes faith but there is not one of shred of evidence that proves there is no God or afterlife. As for me all I have to do is look up at night and I see tons of evidence that this universe wasn't just some random accident by chance. Life is too fine tuned and in perfect balance for their not to be a higher power. But that's just my opinion.

Fair enough. But I think it would be petty for a higher power of the universe to create a land of torture to send his creations to for eternity if they don’t worship him.

We don't know if that's the case. I've asked the same question you asked. It's been explained to me that we can't even begin to think on the same level as God because he is so just and final. The human mind can't process eternity and an eternal being so it's natural to question the existence of God. It all comes down to faith.

Do you think Hitler deserves to be punished for his crimes on earth after his death? Or should he receive the grandest highest most spectacular reward that one can receive in the afterlife?

A man murders 20 people. He is guilty and confessed to the murders. But during the court process the judge says I can not send you away to prison for life where you will live a life full of torture and misery. I can not do this because I am a loving judge. The murderer is set free.

You are using the most extreme example. The vast majority are not murderers or genocidists. Plenty of people who do great things without worshipping the supposed creator. Should they be tortured?

There are plenty of other monsters out there. Just check the news and you will find terrible acts commited every week. Nobody is perfect. Everybody sins. Every pastor and priest commit sins.

Plenty of people who do great deeds throughout their life, should they go to jail for breaking the law? What if they don’t believe in written human rules/laws and they are arrested for minor offenses. Should they be punished? Even though they are a good person?

I love how people want everything handed to them. I want to be a millionaire not by working hard but just because I’m a good person. I want to be a doctor. Not by going to med school and passing boards but simply because I want to and I am a good person. Just because a person does not believe in med school should not mean he can’t be a surgeon. Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it. Unfortunately the above is not true while living on earth and it is not true when you die.

You are accountable for your life and you should be. You know the steps needed and you choose not to follow them and then complain about the consequences. I guess it is human nature to want everything while refusing to do what it takes to achieve it.

I’m aware of that. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. It sucks but that’s life. I’d like to think murderers rot in hell, but thats just a way to cope with the unfairness of life.

I have to follow the laws in society because I am part of society and if I don’t I will face consequences, whether I agree with them or not. The Bible is not the law. Certain people believe the words in it and believe the rewards/consequences that come with believing it. Not everyone does.

This is true for sin and the Bible as well. You will face the consequences when you die. You are held accountable for how you live your life.

Some people don’t believe in man’s written laws. They don’t want to be generic and live their lives like cattle. Not everyone believes. Why should they be punished for their entire life for simply not believing.

So what happens to you when you die since you don’t believe in heaven and hell?

I don't proclaim to know

It's ok to admit that. You don't have to have the answers to everything. I've experienced lack of consciousness due to sleeping, or being anesthetized for surgery. I imagine it's something like that. But I won't say for certainty it is.
