I have two. One is trained just like yours. The other was a rescue and got him when he was about 4. He's a runner so I can't get away without keeping him on a leash. Was a nice crisp 25 or so when I took them out this morning.

I have to say before I ever went to NYC I thought it would be lame, overrated, and uncultured.

fact: NY is by far the greatest city in America, and only London rivals it as the greatest city in the world
the only people that don't like NYC are those that just don't like big cities; which is fine but please stop saying that miami or san antionio are greater cities than NY.
Is new york the greatest place in the country to visit? thats completely subjective, as you might prefer to visit a tropical paradise like hawaii or wildlife at yellowstone. however, if you will be visiting a metropolitan area, there is nothing like new york.
