One day a person is working at Dollar General and the next day they are appraising damages following a hurricane. The problem is after a catastrophic event like Laura the only way to get losses scoped as timely as possible is to send out inexperienced adjusters. By vetting losses as best as possible prior to assignment the bigger losses can be handled by more experienced adjusters.
I agree with all this, but with the major reduction in deployments for property field adjusters, there is limited experienced adjusters to follow up the shitty green ones to clean up the mess. In the past, you just needed to get through the first month of the storm before all the green adjusters were gone and the experienced ones could get people taken care of, that isn’t happening today and those with experience aren’t traveling to storms and working for the bigger firms paying shite money. It is even worse that some of these firms are w-2 positions and not 1099 making the writing off of expenses prohibitive on taxes.
Experienced adjusters that travel the country with the gear to leave home at a moments notice and will be gone for months at a time on their own dime aren’t doing it for peanuts. It is much more lucrative for them to transition to a construction company or switch to a PA position.

Ended up having to get the lawyer I use for my business involved. They finally paid the claim plus my attorney fees. It was very aggravating that I had to put money upfront on an attorney to get them to pay for the damage their insured caused
If liability was so clear cut what was their basis for not accepting and settling your claim prior to involving your attorney?

My agent suggested I have adjuster and contractor meeting so they can talk about it. Not sure if everyone’s aware but there were two friggen hurricanes that passed here. My contractor doesn’t have time to dick around with an adjuster that doesn’t give two shites about him or the roof. It’s just frustrating. Which is why I asked about the PA.
As much as it does suck, if I’m understanding it correctly, this is next in the process. Your contractor can make his estimate, but if its out of the original scope and the numbers look crazy, they’re going to send out an adjuster and he and your contractor will have to discuss the issues. Once your contractor shows the adjuster the problems, then you should be approved for the supplemental claim.
Of course, I’m learning as I go also. So I could be way off. But at this point, keep pushing through every single thing they throw back at you and ask 100 questions every single time you discuss what’s going on with anyone involved with the insurance company.

Not correct. You pay storm ded. once. Next storm claim triggers the all peril ded.(regular ded.).

Honestly have no idea how the hell you guys get insurance coverage in those gulf states. That has to be a significant portion of the annual claims

The major carriers (State Farm, USAA, Farmers, AllState) basically don't write anywhere in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach.

So you are mad at an independent adjuster who is new on the job, in the middle of a pandemic, in the middle of the worst hurricane season in recent years. Also, mad at "your buddy" the contractor because SO many people have roofing claims that he can't get to you for a while.
Where in this did State Farm steal from you?

Did you miss the part where they did’t even put the major part of the roof damage on the report. Now I have to jump through hoops to get it paid for bc STATE FARM hired an incompetent adjuster. THEY did hire the adjuster so THEY get the blame for it. I won’t give numbers out but they paid me about 10% of the cost of my roof damage and now said to wait to repair anything until they can get another adjuster out there. So that’ll be 3 weeks to get another adjuster, 3 more weeks to get another report and then several weeks to get my roof. All the while its already been 6 weeks. So it’ll be close to 4 months after the storm to get my roof $ and it actually replaced. That’s all on STATE FARM and it assumes STATE FARM actually pays me.

It is a process, if they paid every single customer for a new roof, or paid everyone policy limits they wouldn't be in business for long. They will pay you what is owed.
State Farm is a MUTUAL company, they are owned by their policyholders. There are no stock holders, no rich owners, all their profits are put back to benefit the policyholder. That can't be said for other companies, like Allstate who have stockholders.
State Farm will pay you what they owe, but if you don't agree with the independent adjuster, then YOU have to prove the loss.
BTW, the independent adjuster is paid based on a percentage of what they write. SO, it benefits the adjuster to write a large estimate, there is NO incentive for them to short change you.
Also, I had to dispute my Katrina claim with them 15 years ago. Ended up requesting to go to arbitration, I presented my case, and negotiated a settlement the week prior to the arbitrator hearing my case. I've been in your position.
Hiring an attorney usually just gets you screwed out of the cost of the attorney fees.

I dropped State Farm and their hurricane deductible 3 years ago

Sounds like you just got an inexperienced CAT adjuster who is in way over her head. I handle a lot of disputed claims originally handled by an independent CAT adjuster and it’s a mixed bag. Most of them do work off a graduated fee schedule with the incentive to write the biggest estimate they can justify with photos. It may seem like State Farm is screwing you intentionally but the fact of the matter is, technically, your claim won’t even be paid from SF’s coffers. It will be passed on to State Farm’s reinsurer. They would much rather provide coverage for a reinsured loss with the hurricane deductible applied than pay for you roof on the next hail storm where they are on the hook and the All Other Perils deductible is applied.

I kept calling them and one dept said we need a police report. Sent them the report. Then they kept having me call this person or that person which went on for three weeks.
I turned the video, the police report, and any other information over to the law firm I used at the time. They got the truck repairs rolling in a few days time.
As far as cameras a few months prior I was shopping around for cameras for a new shop I was opening. The salesman showed me the vehicle cameras / gps tracking and I bought three to try. After the accident I made sure all the business vehicles were equipped with gps tracking and cameras. Even the guy that bought me out believes in them as one of his vehicles was stolen and recovered within a few hours.
