Of course
You should be working from home even if you have symptoms
Work shouldn’t stop because you have a cold

I can't cite this but I know for fact from a close friend who works at a hospital in Lafayette, that administrators has told their employees(doctors, nurses, maintenance etc) that if you have covid and are asymptomatic, you still have to go to work.

Same.

Can't be paying overtime, healthcare is a business. Plain and simple.

A craftsman can't work from home, he has to physically produce something for his pay.

Those of us who can work from home are blessed but that isn't an option for many. Most are willing to risk covid to keep their checks coming in which they desperately need.

The effects of these lockdowns and mandates are horrible for the normal working man. They need to go away.

What is your friend's position there? Anything under a nurse, doctor, or upper-mgmt is probably just looking for paid-time-off.

If you're asymptomatic, a hospital isn't testing you as an employee, so this likely never happens

I think his “source” got “ positive for COVID” and “exposed to someone with COVID” confused.

I'm with you here, but if you're not drawing the line at people who work in a hospital, then you're just being disingenuous.

Possibly. My wife had a patient that hours later tested positive cough in her face and they still didn't want to test her. They eventually did, but it took some convincing from her unit manager. She was also in her third trimester at the time.

Well we won’t normally test staff exposed unless they are symptomatic. That’s also CDC guidelines for healthcare workers.

Was your wife wearing appropriate PPE?

At my organization we require EVERYONE having any sort of patient contact to at the minimum wear a level 2 surgical mask and either face shield or goggles. This includes registration staff that check in patients at our clinics.

Well that’s not following CDC guidelines. So I seriously doubt your source is correct. Maybe they are just confused.

If you have been exposed to someone with COVID and work at a hospital you can still work as long as you are asymptomatic but must always wear a mask and still quarantine away from others outside of work for 14 days.

The moment you have any symptoms you are to not work and get tested.

If you test positive for COVID you cannot return to work for at least 10 days following a positive test or start of symptoms and the last 24 hours you are fever free without the use of antipyretics and no worsening symptoms.

ETA: This is what we do at the hospital I work for. I investigate COVID staff exposures on a daily basis as part of my job so I’m very familiar with this process.

This! I also work at a hospital and have been involved in COVID reporting. Those are exactly the CDC guidelines and what we follow as well.
