I'm not sure of the legalities as I'm not a lawyer, but my wife is a nurse at a big hospital in the DFW and what the OP has said is correct for the wife's hospital also. They have told them that if they are asymptomatic to still come to work. And if they are symptomatic to stay home until they are symptom free for two day.

Well your wife’s hospital isn’t following CDC guidelines. That or your wife is confused.

They better hope their state department doesn’t get wind of that and pays them a visit to investigate after an employee or patient files a complaint.

Or could she be confused about type of testing?

Testing positive for COVID via antibody testing with no symptoms is a totally different deal.

She's not confused. They told them this in a meeting and to my knowledge wasn't communicated in writing so I'm guessing that's their loophole. If someone tests positive they can play the "we didn't know" card?

What state are you a nurse in? Louisiana? Just curious.

It wasn't directed at a certain type of testing or it would have been clarified and not made a big deal by the nurses.

Know a nurse that works in a hospital in a different state. They are operating under the same exact policy.

The hospital my wife works at is if you know you've been exposed, then it's 10 days of quarantine even if you test negative. A family member tested positive and since we were around him, she reported it and quarantined. She's in management and could work from home so it was all paid and she didn't have to use her days. I am sure if you don't have symptoms and don't say anything no one will know, but ethics and everything.

At the Baton Rouge area hospital I work at, you can come back after no fever, even if that’s 2 days out.

Yikes...I would not want to be a patient at that hospital. Again...not sure what guidelines that place is following but CDC still has the 10 day one for positive healthcare workers.

If you test positive for COVID (and I’m not talking a repeat test but your first positive test)....you can’t work for at least 10 days after start of symptoms with no fever for 24 hours. If you don’t have symptoms the test date starts the 10 days.

at our company if you know someone who heard someone say that they knew someone who heard that someone they drove past on the interstate who later revealed that they might have driven past someone who had the same first name as someone who looked at a person who they thought had covid then, you have to quarantine.

my wife (teacher) was just told she had first hand exposure from a fellow teacher last week.

teacher had no symptoms.

my wife has no symptoms and has to teach virtually for 14 days from the date of the positive test (Friday.)

if my wife tests negative, no matter how many times. she can't go back to work till next Friday.

who in the hell is making the rules.

can't cite this but I know for fact from a close friend who works at a hospital in Lafayette, that administrators has told their employees(doctors, nurses, maintenance etc) that if you have covid and are asymptomatic, you still have to go to work. :O

Well that’s not following CDC guidelines. So I seriously doubt your source is correct. Maybe they are just confused.

If you have been exposed to someone with COVID and work at a hospital you can still work as long as you are asymptomatic but must always wear a mask and still quarantine away from others outside of work for 14 days.

The moment you have any symptoms you are to not work and get tested.

If you test positive for COVID you cannot return to work for at least 10 days following a positive test or start of symptoms and the last 24 hours you are fever free without the use of antipyretics and no worsening symptoms.

ETA: This is what we do at the hospital I work for. I investigate COVID staff exposures on a daily basis as part of my job so I’m very familiar with this process.

well she happens to be a nurse, just like you so, i dunno, i was just curious about it so i posted.

If you're asymptomatic, a hospital isn't testing you as an employee, so this likely never happens

if your a health care worker an your exposed to a patient with covid and test positive but have no symptoms....yes it can happen.

my view is if you are positive i would think you can spread it so why not stay home?

If you test positive for Covid, there is zero chance administration is saying come to work. Think about the legal risk.

Maybe you need to get out more
Restaurants / bars were packed this weekend
Took us 3 places before we found somewhere to watch the game
Bars are open til 2
Employees aren’t even wearing masks

i do get out and i do follow closely what is going on and fyi, schools, hospitals, different places of business and groceries stores are NOT opened up fully as schools are doing temperature checks every day and still forcing teachers and student to wear masks, eat breakfast and lunch separated by class etc. In grocery stores , workers are sitting at their entry doors and making sure people walk in with a mask on. all this shite pisses me off. so no, someone needs to speak up and make a FORMAL announcement on all platforms that the mandate is offically over in louisiana.

There is no such thing as Asymptomatic. You either had symptoms and you just didn't realize it (because the virus is so weak), or you were exposed and your body immediately built antibodies (like it does when around someone with a cold or flu and you don't catch it). You all have been duped into believing you are walking weapons of biological warfare.

Prove me wrong.
