The problem is, you would have to put up with some manager that is dumber than you and gets to make the decisions. He knows you're smarter than him and he starts feeling like you're a threat to his job.

Work ethic. Ask to learn to repair the ice cream machine and keep it going. Word would get around. Soon you'd be training to keep all their automation stuff running. You'd be gold.
