Most of the posts are silly unless you want to define "college town" as anywhere you'd want to live.

Tempe is suburb of Phoenix.
Austin is nearly 2 million people in their metro area.
Houston?
Last time I checked UGA was in the SEC
UofH is in Honolulu. Not exactly a college town.

I will go with London, Edinburgh, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle or Boston.

For real college towns:
Ithaca NY
Clemson SC
Boulder CO (except the lib bias would drive me away as soon as skiing season was done)

I grew up in Rochester and had a bunch of Hockey tournaments there and went back several times as an adult and there isn't a lot of nightlife...

Cold arse winters and lots of snow. The gorges are nice when students aren't throwing themselves off the cliffs... Definitely not at this point in my life, but it's a pretty area.

It's not that crazy, but I'd say everything is on average 30-40% more expensive there.

Your average $10 6 pack here is $13-14.

I recall getting bread, meat, cheese, mayo (smallest), mustard (smallest), toilet paper, paper towels and paper plates my first day there. That here would be $30-35 by my estimates. It turned out to be $50 and change. I just thought to myself "I didn't bring enough money."

I guess. I was 20 years old and just wanted to transfer away from LSU for a semester. Worked out great. Came back to Louisiana with literally $20 to my name and a great tan.

I went to a football game in Tempe.......I swear, the hottie rate was higher than if you went to an LA club where the bouncer "screened" the women. I half expected to see some big dude at the gate turning ugly chicks away.

That same weekend, I went to a sports pub to watch NFL football on Sunday. Same fricking thing!

I started to wonder if I'd really been in a car accident on the way to Tempe and was just in heaven.

ASU gets lots of chicks from CA that weren't smart enough for some of the CA colleges. So they come to ASU to party.
