In that order. Heading to one of them after school

College Station. Very good schools. Several good country clubs. Good fishing and hunting in the area. Only 1 hour from Houston and 2 hr 45 min from Dallas.

Austin real estate prices are out pricing the locals. Next time you're there notice all the Cali license plates. Real estate in the area is affordable compared to Cali prices so they are moving in and forcing the others to the burbs

We love Austin but it's for 20 something's and college students. It's not really a family-friendly city.

This is a ridiculous and ignorant statement. Austin is a great city for young families.

Lampasas/Burnet/San Saba. Only area I've considered outside of MS. Used to spend time in the panhandle which is nice if you don't need a Wal-Mart.

Houston is hell on earth to me. There is no argument that would convince me otherwise, not even money. There has to be a job somewhere else that offers these people enough money to not live in that hell hole.

Tyler is fantastic. Lots of places inside and outside of the city to live. It almost reminds me of a smaller Birmingham if you can sort of imagine that.

Lots of great food/shopping options, lakes, rivers, hunting, fishing, cycling. Great place to raise a family.

As somebody who grew up there... no. No it is not fantastic. If you live there you were either born there and couldn't escape or were roped in b/c you work in the medical field.

also at great food/shopping options. Sure, if you like chains and a dying mall it great!

I would buy some land near Raywood, Texas. Close enough to the big city of Houston without fighting the daily traffic of the 610 loop.

Otherwise, I might build a cabin around Fort Stockton.

Went to school in Tyler and worked at the Best Buy there.

It's a retirement community. AT BEST.

Dallas

There are only two restaurants in Tyler worth mentioning. Stanley's BBQ and Taqueria El Lugar. Since Brookshires HQ is there they tend to have fairly nice grocery stores. Other than that? Be prepared to be bored out of your fricking mind. There is so little to do the god damn Rose Festival (essentially a debutante ball w/a weak sauce parade) is a thing.
