Dallas is the low ball sure thing. You can't go wrong with any of these if you can afford to live well.

Chicago is best if you can afford it.

Boston a close 2nd.

Dallas has some high end schools too, just not the famous names you can get in Boston.

I was born and raised in southern New England and lived a long time in Chicago.

Wife's family in Odessa and Dallas.

Boston, it has history, it's a cool city, and fresh seafood. I wouldn't want to live in Dallas it offers nothing but hot flat living and Chicago is Boston with out the aforementioned good stuff.
