Golden, Colorado

Close enough to plenty of outdoor stuff, close enough to Denver, Estes Park, Garden of the Gods, close enough to Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs.

I say all the time, if I could go back in time to being 22-25, I'd move my arse to Golden and start there.

Very happy at my forever farm here in the Virginia countryside.

However, when the retirement tour starts next year, my wife (the hot travel nurse, no pics) and I (retired) will live in these places in the US over the following 5 years (not in any particular order):
- Austin (not summer)
- Louisiana btwn Nola and BTR (for baseball or foosball)
- San Diego, Paso Robles, and Davis CA
- Salida / Colorado Springs Colorado (summer and winter)
- City Island in NYC (not winter)
- Naples FL
- Nashville
- Charleston SC (not summer)
- Prescott AZ
- Sante Fe NM
- Boise ID
- Tigard OR

My ideal retirement goal is own a small ranch in Wyoming or Montana and a beach house in Key West. Spend winters in Florida, summer in Montana

I don’t know if I want a ranch, but Montana and The Keys would be my two spots too. I love the Missoula area of Montana, and the island vibes of The Keys.

On the intercoastal waterway in Port Salerno, Florida (Stuart). Make bait right at the mouth of St Lucie Inlet and go 2 miles offshore and start catching sail fish 12 months out of the year. When its too rough to get offshore skip white bait under folks docks and catch slot and bigger snook one after the other. When the snook allow for it the Tarpon are ready....it really don't get a whole lot better....

Where it will not be real hot or real cold. If there is such a place. I moved from the Gulf Coast to NW Arkansas to escape the hot temperatures, but it gets damn cold up here.

We lived in Waynesville for 2 years, ended up moving back down south. The town really seems cute as a visitor, but living there is not that great. Once you do the 10 or 12 things there are to do, it’s kinda boring. I guess you could always go to the breweries in Asheville and get lectured by all the alphabet people, great times.

Also of note, there is a very large homeless population in Waynesville. I can’t even count how many times I saw people sleeping out, or defacating in the Walmart parking lot. The reason for the spike in the homeless population is the creation of the “pathways center” in Waynesville. All of the surrounding municipalities haul their homeless to Waynesville because they have resources. Most get kicked out of Pathways because of drug use and end up outdoors all over West Waynesville.
