All things considered, the Northern Cali/Southern Oregon territory would be incredible to live in, provided you had money just to play and enjoy the scenery.
I've got some family that live up in the woods about 10 miles south of the OR border. They don't have much money but they have motorcycles and plenty of meth. Beautiful scenery, but I'm no longer welcome after they determined that me and my dad are fbi agents.

I just looked at the demographics and I am amazed at how many Hispanics are apparently in Harrisonburg.

Somewhere with a mild climate, close to good healthcare, more conservative leaning and close to fresh seafood. Maybe N. Carolina Coast or possibly the Tampa/Sarasota area.

I would have said western NC up until Helene hit them. Used to want to move to a small town in the Rockies, but as I get older I note that things like healthcare and other needs are spread out which might not make it practical for an older couple.

You’re looking at the hurricane thing wrong. Now is the time to move there.

If money was no issue, and logistics of kids weren't an issue probably Jackson Hole, NYC, or San Fran.

I know, but that risk is in my head, flooding, landslides, etc.

Toss up primary residence between panhandle and somewhere around Sarasota

And secondary residence somewhere in Northern California sticks on Pacific Ocean near Patrolia and King Range

With how crazy it is in Cali I’d settle in Idaho or Montana

Maybe not Key West exactly but anywhere between Key Largo and Key West would work for me with access to a launch and dock.
