Come on down but know it is NOT cheap to live here and particularly so in Naples. A 7000 sq ft raw lot is $800k in North Naples.

What are nice, two bedroom apartments renting for in that area?

A lot of folks like this idea and it is fantastic but the people tend to be assholes if you ain't a mormon

Idaho has the second highest population of Mormons outside of Utah. I picked Boise over Salt Lake because it had less Mormons. I don’t find Boise to be like you described in Swan Valley. We aren’t there that much, but so far we like Boise a lot.

Boise, for the uninitiated who may not know, is FANTASTIC. Its also in the banana belt and winters are maneageable...not Georgia manageable but manageable...

I love living around Mormons. Thousands come here to work in summer for tourist season, great people.

I am told, anecdotally of course, that it is far different being around "thousands" of mormons in a state other than Idaho and Utah and being around them in Utah and Idaho.

I know 4 different families who are gentiles and natives of Idaho who no longer live in Idaho because of the attitude of their neighbors when they find they are not mormons. I know of 2 similar situations in Utah. Personally I like the idea of being shunned and part of the allure for me in either state would indeed being ignored by my neighbors but I would not want to subject a normal person to it like my wife and kids. I have been fortunate to spend a great deal of time in both Idaho and Utah and I love both but I have seen the change in people when they ask if you are mormon...

Ah, The Villages- home of key parties, swingers and chlamydia .. At least, that is the national perception.. Sounds like fun though !

I always thought The Villages is where you end up if you don’t take planning for retirement seriously.

Stanley, ID

Great demographics, unrivaled public access to land, enough separatists to have drinking buddies at the saloon and far, far away from hoodrat shite.

When the wife and I first moved into our current place, all the neighbors made their way over to say hi. Within a minute, everyone asked if we were Mormon. When we said nope, every single one but one made their goodbyes. The one that didn't only stuck around long enough to ensure he could trade his chicken eggs for beer.

I get the whole "I like to be left alone" thing. I like that myself when home, but you also have to work with them. I hate dragging my Mormon co-worker with me just to get maint. supers to listen as to why we need to do this or that. It is tiring.

Somewhere I can fish and be left alone.

Maybe Eastern Tennessee/western North Carolina.

Wyoming/Montana.

Ozarks.

Love San Diego but it’s changed I’m told. So no bueno there or anywhere in California for that matter.

Northport, AL. Which is where I live.

Though you need more than 200k to be on the lake.

I have experienced similar situations in both Idaho and Utah...fortunately the sites which I have worked at in both states have a large number of people, especially in management positions, who are not from the area originally and do not mind at all stepping in and reminding those who are from the area that the site may be in the area but the owners come from all over the nation and the agency charged with oversight is the only community that matters on the site. It is real though...I have worked with a bunch of people on those sites who are not from the area and almost universally they mention the "mormon" issue from time to time...its not crippling but it does seem to have a cumulative effect over time.

TBH where I am at right now because you either get screwed by terrible weather, terrible politics, terrible taxes, or all three in the USA. Anywhere in the world and I will have an answer for you.
