This isn’t a bad idea,
This is an area where you can deer and duck hunt. Freshwater fish and saltwater is only minutes away. Pretty much do all the outdoor activities you can imagine and you’re far enough away from worrying about flooding, and easy evacuation route in the event of a a hurricane
You’re only an hour or so away from BR, NOLA and Laffy.
The only drawback is, if you’re not from there the locals will eat your lunch unless you can get on their good side. They don’t take to outsiders very well.

If I was forced to live the a shithole state like Louisiana, it wouldn’t be in one of the ‘cities’ as that’s where most of the scum that makes LA what it is reside.
Prob somewhere with a lot of land around Ruston. It seemed clean enough, decent terrain, and a few nearby lakes.
Luckily, this is a free country and people can choose to live wherever they want. I chose Texas.

How does this play out? They gonna gimme the stink eye at Waffle House? Surround my home with torches and pitchforks in the middle of the night? Have the sheriff harass me daily?
What’s the level of eating my lunch I should expect?

Nah, you would be ignored and they would less likely to help you in a time of need. They’re good people but they’re also not very trusting of outsiders. If you’re black and an outsider, it’s never going to happen.

Pretty much this.
It would be like living on an island. You would probably be able to blend in and find a few friends, but you’ll always be an outsider and you’d be treated like one.
Stay in your lane and no one would blink an eye at you.
Act like a big shot, or cause just a little bit of trouble and word travels fast in that area, and you’re fricked.

Or they’ll follow you around and catch you alone on a back road or bar room and jump your arse. They like to send messages.
But at the end of the day, they’re some really good people in that area.
They’re just different and DGAF

Acadian home
I am a fan of Acadian style homes. And nothing fancy.
Something like this.
And I would want it to be in a rural area, near a bayou or lake, but I wouldn't want to be too far away from town/city.

I don’t see a ramp. How would you get inside?
Posted on 4/28/19 at 11:57 am to OweO
No, that’s trashy
Think the Landry’s home just outside of Plaquemine.

Where? Towards WC?
Posted on 4/28/19 at 12:08 pm to OweO
Yes, the big White House to the left of the road going towards WC. I think it has a small man made lake in front of it.
