Good point.

Scoop dirt into ziploc bags for the rest of your life or be a cartel boss. Not a hard choice.
Yep

I also edited town to country. There's many shite towns in America that i'd still take over the boss of a drug cartel, hell I did grow up in a shite town.

But some of these 3rd world type countries where poor folks have no shot, it's a no brainer.

From what I've read on the internet Juan Pablo sounds like a total pussy, changed his name and everything.

Pablo Escobar may have done terrible things but he was a genius and did a lot for the people of Columbia, I think a lot of things he did that hurt people was purely because he had his back against the wall and he saw no way out.

He did a lot for Medellin because he was smart. He knew that he could insulate himself from police interference if the city loved him as much as they feared him.

As for the second part of your statement, he may have seen no way out, but his view is extremely skewed. There was no excuse for bombing that airplane, assassinating the president-elect, or the c4 bomb in Bogota

I'm not one for poisoning children to make a buck, so I'd say no.

Pablo Escobar was arguably the most dangerous and successful criminal in history. Even someone of his caliber met a violent end. So, no, I would not want to be a drug kingpin. I don't think I could live with all the bodies you have to stack in order to reach that position.

Many people with less-than-exciting lives would trade their current existence for 10 years (if that) of the high life.

Personally, I wouldn't because you're guaranteed to be in jail or killed. Always looking over your back and thinking those in your inner circle were going to Judas you.

No thanks.

Pablo would've kept on going just fine if he wasn't so aggressive politically.

Just stepped on the wrong toes.

Had he just been happy in Colombia and continued to pay off politicians, military, and police, he'd probably still be ruling that land. He did a ton for Medellin and was a hero for many there.

Just got too violent with people he shouldn't have.

It honestly doesn't sound that appealing to me. It won't end well. You're always looking over your shoulder. Either for the feds or for the guy who wants your business. You have to do some horrible things to make people to scared to cross you.

I wouldn't want that kind of power. I don't want people to fear me. I don't want to make women sleep with me. If I have billions of dollars, I want to be completely free to enjoy it.

Yes, 60-70% of the show is in Spanish. It is very good, although the newer season isn't quite as good without Pablo, the actor who played him nailed it.

Never! Morality play they always lose.

As far as Escobar is concerned he was a billionaire before turning 30 when no one knew who he was. He could have cashed out then and lived a good long life. Greed got him just like it does most of those in charge of so much wealth and power.

The government wasn't going to tolerate his crap for long. Once the bombs started, it was game over for him.
