If you can’t take it with you, what’s the point of trying to build lasting wealth?

Dying broke makes so much more sense. The last check you write should bounce. I mean we all have trust fund friends. And they are totally normal. So if you get too rich it screws up your descendants. Look at the Rothschilds. Poor bastards have to marry their own family. Looks at the billionaires. Soros and Bill Gates are giving away all their money. If it was so great, why give it away? Plus, do you have stuff or does your stuff have you? The more stuff you accumulate the more time it takes to manage it all. The rat race is a crazy train and life in the fast lane will surely make you lose your mind.

And what is wrong with that? Must be awesome to have so much money you can easily give away massive amounts for great causes to help humanity.

Let natural selection happen. Don’t prop up weak bloodlines.

First, i hope i have enough money so my kids and grandkids don't have to work a day in their life

I know a few ppl who will never have to work, and instead they follow their passions with reckless abandon (mainly art and world travel) because they have that opportunity... and they are happier than you and I will ever be, because of it

Not true at all

If u got enough money to acquire a bunch of shite, you got enough money to pay somebody to look after it

I know a guy with 2 houses and 2 condos... he does favors for friends, and they take care of his shite when he's not around... pretty simple

Also, don't artificially prop up a failing economy in some 3rd world area instead of fixing the issue.

Like the shoe donation thing. Causes developing nations to forego starting a shoe factory, prevents poor craftsman from making a living as cobbler, stifles innovation from outside the box thinking by budding artist/designer. All because if you get free shoes there is no need for all the previous.

I think earning your own way produces true happiness. Anyone who was left a trust fund is a bum on some level.

Building a lasting legacy so their name has meaning even after they're gone. Its why people put their names on buildings. Also its to show off while you're still around.

I was to change my family tree.

I still want future generations to work hard and earn, invest, save and give their money just like others before me.

I’m actually with you on that. You earned it and you should spend it. I don’t like the idea of having some shithead grandchild blowing an inheritance

My parents were born during the Great Depression so they carry a lot of lessons that their parents passed on to them. Their goal was to live comfortable lives but pass on as much wealth as possible to their children. Save money, take vacations, have a good home, wear good clothes, etc. but don’t get a Lexus sedan when a Camry will do the same thing. My parents retired approximately 15 years ago and have more wealth now than when they retired.

I can’t imagine what level of selfishness it would take to spend all my money on luxuries while my kids go without. I’m not talking about spoiling them but I don’t expect them to have to work their way through college (unless they choose to) and leave with massive debt.

Just my opinion.
