Here’s updated fairly comprehensive info on mass shootings from the right wingers at Mother Jones:

So if deranged morons want our gun rights revoked all they need to do in your book is rampage kill enough times to justify it? Why not publish those thoughts, garner enough public opinion on your side to make a difference, then sit back and watch the rampage killings increase. By your logic we just need a few more mass murders to get the guns off the streets.

Re-read it.

I didn't imply any of that.

I made some statements and asked a couple of questions.

Why does the media keep saying we need background checks when we already have them?

Why? Are black lives taken by black lives less important?

Murder is murder.

Saying that is racist. There have been over 1600 people shot in Chicago so far this year. Mostly by stolen or illegal guns.

If you are caught with a stolen gun it should be an automatic 20 years. We don't want to focus on that problem though. The lack of prioritization is laughable.

They go back to the 40's but we don't need to go back that far to chew on the larger point.

They don't count because they don't apply to the context of this discussion.

The discussion is seemingly inexplicable rampage killings. Not drug, turf or property related crime.

Is six rampage killings per year enough to justify placing some sort of limit on the 2nd amendment?

Nope.

According to the FBI, there were 19 in 2018.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:2018_mass_shootings_in_the_United_States

According to the NWS, there were 20 lightning fatalities in 2018. So yeah, I'll take my chances.

We have people who are mentally unstable, Americans do not take mental health serious enough.

Then you have the media stirring shite up.

I said it on here 2+ years ago, the more the media pokes the bear to rile people up for ratings, the worse this will get and we will get more shootings.

Media plays this left vs right, and lies to push agendas, and piss off, mentally unstable people who are already pissed off.

More these assholes poke the bear, the more the bear will poke back.

Good point. I absolutely loathe mainstream African-American culture but a drive by that kills multiple people sometimes including children is the definition of rampage killing. It belongs on any list of the sort.

The preservation of our constitutional rights have social consequences. All of them do.

Are these unpredictable and spontaneous killings simply the price we have to pay to live in a free society?

In a word, yes.

All of our rights today have come with a cost, and part of that cost has been human life. The 2A will continue to exist unless a large majority of the citizens decide otherwise.

The only "gun control" I am in favor of is requiring the same background check for peer to peer sales. I have sold a couple of guns to individuals over the years but then only a few of my competition rifles to other competitors plus not many crimes are committed with Anshutz free rifles.

Good starting point but I noticed some mistakes right away.

The map has no dots in Alabama so they missed the professor who shot up a department meeting. They also included shootings with fewer than four fatalities in their excel sheet even though that was supposed to be the threshold.

Based on the sources posted in this thread, the number is actually 30, not 16. I've seen numbers as high as 200.

Data can be manipulated and I understand that it happens a lot to prove certain points.

To me it isn't about taking away your guns, it's about limiting the types of guns you have access to. If you need an AK-47 to protect your home, you need to practice your shot. You're not hunting with it either, so why do you want to have the ability to buy an AK-47? How many here actually own one?

And before anyone brings up the knife arguments - you can't kill 10 people in 50 seconds with a knife (the Dayton shooting lasted 50 seconds and killed 10 people and injured dozens more)

That's interesting and seemingly reasonable. You're gonna get alot of hate mail for that.

A person with a 9mm pistol could have done just as much damage.
