Why don’t you substitute for a day to better understand what you know nothing about? Why don’t you give up your nights and weekends to create lesson plans, grade assignments, do inservice, curriculum meetings, and continuing education classes, and dealing with unappreciative jackasses?

I've heard this tired arse argument from multiple teachers. And before you say, "But you don't underatand...blah blah" let me tell you that I have friends and family up and down the hierarchy of the teaching field. From an aide to a principal, teacher, counselor, to the central office. I know. Spare me.

Teachers who say, "You should volunteer!" or, "You should try subbing!" lose the argument before it ever starts.

When picking your major, did you just close your eyes and throw a dart at a board? Did you sit in you Intro to Education class and not ask a single question? Did you do absolutely no research into the field you chose?

Bring your arse over to the plant, or out to the field, or on the side of a road, or top of a building, and start spouting your "Woe is me" bullshite.

Is very mad that his hours got cut at the plant.

But you know he doesn't work for the plant. Just in there with a contractor. Smart money is erecting scaffolding.

The one I know is doing triple work scheduling classes for three different options.

This sounds retarded, go spend a week in a classroom. I'm sick of people claiming they can do it because they can monitor 1 student. Go and do it with 60-70 a day and prove your point.

Oh, and I worked construction and I'm a certified welder before you start all that other bullshite.

Scheduling. Ours also use the time they return to work (they’re off for about two weeks in July) to do IEP/ECE meetings, meeting with teachers over curriculum expectations, etc.

True. Very true. The one I know even had to work on her beach vacation a week ago.

Now, that doesn't mean anything. She is quite pleased with the arrangement being that she doesn't have to put up with parents and other teachers who don't know the first thing about curriculum, scheduling, testing, or college planning. She can get her work done in half the time without all the unnecessary input.

so my wife, who is not in a union, and wants to go back, and actually misses interaction with her kids (elementary aged special ed) should not get paid because some Karen at the state level decided to cancel shite?

and then by that same token also lose the insurance (which is ridiculously cheap by the way).

and people wonder why the average citizen is getting restless with all this shite.

Why? It’s the truth. People who typically bitch about education or teaching often don’t have a clue how it works or uses the one shitty teacher they’ve dealt with as the benchmark.

And I wouldn’t sit around trying to tell some plant baw how to do his job because I don’t know dick about it.

Yet, teachers are regularly regulated by the opinions of those who haven’t stepped into a classroom in years. Not just on an administrative level but on a legislative level as well.

Just like these CDC recommendations for school safety during COVID-19. A teacher would’ve easily sat down and told you they were virtually impossible with current budgets and space from the jump.

Look at this thread full of people who hate being home with their kids

Maybe you dumb fricks should’ve thought twice before having kids.

Hope the Instagram photo was worth it when they were a baby. Teachers should get a double pay raise for keeping up with people like the OP’s kids, 5 days a week, 7 hours a day.

Louisiana should want their kids in school. Like half of public school kids are on free lunch. How else they going to feed their kids?

The point is that you had ample opportunity to learn what you were getting yourself into. As such, nobody wants to hear complaining about known job requirements.

Except, I do have a clue how it works. And just like every other person, I assume that you willingly chose your career. Now, I'm not just basing this on current events. It is the argument any time the subject of education comes up.

I had a conversation with a teacher friend yesterday. Every bit of positive news/studies about corona I would present, she would shoot down with feelings and emotions. She never once attempted to show me any statistics or studies to legitimise her beliefs. She simply played the "You don't know....." card. She had no desire to hear the first thing that didn't jive with what she believed.
