I know everything between the river and Highland Road would get water, but how fast would the water rise and to what level? I assume it would “spread out” to some degree over the rest of South Louisiana, but how much time would you have to get out of your house to safety?

I guess it depends on the level of failure and where it was at.

Protip to people sitting in traffic on the bridge when the levee breaks: use landscape mode.

When the levee breaks I’ll have no place to stay.

They will likely evacuate the area ahead of time, but assuming the failure happens around LSU, you'd possibly see thousands of deaths along Brightside and billions of dollars in infrastructure lost in hours.

The government would spend billions of dollars to rebuild a shithole. Lots of politicians would get rich.

They'd probably move the Super Regionals.

Bad things

Just look at that Arkansas River breach.

Water would start overflowing the railroad track at Gardere within an hour
