Your implication is wrong. You would be safe from arrest under most circumstances.

I'm laughing because you think society is going to shite. While me growing up in a war torn country makes me greatly appreciate being an American. We have it made here compared to 99% of the world.

The term "carjacking". Sigh...

The act of 'jacking a car' is a robbery, which is a violent crime. Obviously you can defend yourself from violent crimes, especially if the offender is armed.

The statute for carjacking is feel good legislation in response to a crime trend that became popular in the 90's.

The penalty is less than what was already provided for armed robbery. Some legislator wanted to look tough on crime to his constituents and created a law for this term when the act was already illegal.

That's my bad. I've seen so much bickering about society recently that I jumped to conclusions.

In essence I think it's bad to assume things or generalize really complex issues. From the McKnight shooting I automatically assumed he was guilty because of what I read, then it turns out that most of that was rumors spread by the media, but uncorroborated by the cops. I'm not automatically going to assume the cops are lying. Yeah I know some are crooked, but the majority are not.

I have both good and bad experiences with cops. But each situation is separate from the others. We base our opinions on knowledge we learn and from personal experiences, but we give more credence to info that supports our beliefs.

Overall I think if you had a legal weapon and used it to defend yourself in a legal manner. Then the vast majority of the time you would safe from prosecution.

In LA the law explicity allows you to kill a carjacker. That's strong.

If you feel you are in danger of your life, which you should if you're getting car jacked, shoot him. But that doesn't mean unloading a clip into the car as he's driving off. Once he is no longer a threat to you (running away, driving off) you can't shoot him.

If you have to ask that question...then you are already a victim.

Gasser is guilty. Don't think a jury will agree that he was in enough danger to shoot even given what we know. He has the right to have the gun by his side and deter a threat, but he has a whole new standard to justify shooting it

If you're white and he's black then hell no. "Yo arse be's racist cause yo arse is white."

If you're black and the car jacker is white, you can blow him away. He's carjacking cause his arse be's racist.
