I know we see it as odd, but it has nearly the amount of believers as Christianity.

If you strip out names of Gods/deities etc, it's all essentially very similar in the grand scheme of things...

Live a good life = go to heaven / reincarnate in a better form

Live a bad life = go to hell / come back as a cockroach

eta:

It's all still "life after death"

Bc the energy is reincarnated (energy can neither be created or destroyed, it only changes form), not the complete actual person.

Quantum physics has proven that time experienced by modern humans is a human construct. OUtside of space and time, everything happens at one time. We just experience it with our senses as chopped up according to past, present, future. So, in reality, reincarnation is simply all of your lives past, present and future being one, continuous flow. Sometimes, in that flow, the past catches up to the present and you have deja vu. Or the future flows into the present for visions, prophecies we get from some humans. This all fits within the framework of Eastern Buddhist or Hindu belief systems.

Can you recommend any books or reading material on this stuff?

Also, why does everyone seem to be someone famous? If there are a set number of souls that just keep recycling then how is the population exploding? Any reincarnation experiences from the OT?

Bc reincarnation is a dumb idea and isn't real

Oh, actually there is no such proof. Time is linear. You want proof? Look at the stars. You are looking millions of years into the past. Time can slow down and speed up but it can't go backwards.

It's not real. When you die, you are dead. That's it

quote:

Nearly six decades ago, a 21-year-old Navy fighter pilot on a mission over the Pacific was shot down by Japanese artillery. His name might have been forgotten, were it not for 6-year-old James Leininger.

Quite a few people — including those who knew the fighter pilot — think James is the pilot, reincarnated.

James' parents, Andrea and Bruce, a highly educated, modern couple, say they are "probably the people least likely to have a scenario like this pop up in their lives."

But over time, they have become convinced their little son has had a former life.

From an early age, James would play with nothing else but planes, his parents say. But when he was 2, they said the planes their son loved began to give him regular nightmares.

"I'd wake him up and he'd be screaming," Andrea told ABCNEWS' Chris Cuomo. She said when she asked her son what he was dreaming about, he would say, "Airplane crash on fire, little man can't get out."

FWIW, my GF's son would talk about his "other mommy" when he was very young. He stopped when he was about 4, and has no recollection of it now.

If you dare to couple the idea of reincarnation with logic you might consider that if you can't remember things from your own life (like memories from birth through say 4 years old), how in the hell might you remember things from a whole other life?

In a word... duh.

Is it any more odd than stuff written in the Bible?

More to the point, if you can't remember things what's the point of being reincarnated in the first place? If I'm going to come back I would at least like to have my consciousness and memories come back with me.
